A massive line of storms that is approaching the Meridian area has caused some damage in other parts of the state today.

At least one person has been injured after an apparent tornado touched down in the Brookhaven area.

Officials said the tornado touched down about 9 a.m. in the Heuck’s Retreat community. There was no immediate word on the condition of the injured person.

Lincoln County civil defense director Clifford Galey, contacted by the Brookhaven Daily Leader, confirmed that at least two mobile homes had been destroyed.

Galey also said several homes had suffered damage.

The storms are expected to move through the area today, producing torrential rain and possible severe storms.
