If you have been sighting in your deer rifle and are dissatisfied with the accuracy, there are a couple of things that are easy to investigate. First, be sure you are shooting the same brand and weight of ammunition. A cartridge that has shot accurately for you in the past is best for checking accuracy. Next use sandbags to support the forearm as well as the butt of the rifle stock while shooting from a sturdy bench. If a scattered pattern still results, check the rifle’s stock from the action forward. A warped stock that binds the barrel should be corrected.
