Jennifer Lee Plunkett and Dr. Tyge Payne, both of Lubbock, Texas, were married at sunset on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, on the beach in Maui, Hawaii, with the Rev. Don Payne, father of the bridegroom, performing the ceremony.
A scripture chosen by the bride was read by the pastor in Hawaiian and interpreted by Carol Payne, mother of the bridegroom. Scripture was also read by Sherrol Sheaffer, mother of the bride, and Sharon Plunkett, step-mother of the bride.
Parents of the couple are Pat and Sherrol Sheaffer of Meridian and Ken and Sharon Plunkett of Ovilla, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Don W. Payne of Lubbock.
Grandparents of the bride are Murray James of Meridian and the late Birdeen James and Aaron and Bertha Plunkett.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Eldon L. Wright, the late Margie Wright and John and Sarah Payne, all of Levelland, Texas.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the bride’s brother and sister-in-law, Majs. Ryan Plunkett and Lynn Plunkett, U.S. Air Force, of Colorado Springs, Colo., guitarist and vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents, step-parents and her brother.
Jennifer Childs of Hartford, Ala., served as matron of honor.
A reception was held on the beach for family and friends who attended the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Maui, the couple resides in Lubbock, where Mrs. Payne is a registered nurse and works in the pediatric unit at University Medical Center and Dr. Payne is a professor at Texas Tech University.
