Staff Sgt. Larry Earl Scott
Services for Larry Earl Scott will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Greater Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott, 50, of McDonough, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in Meridian. He was a native of Meridian, the son of Pearlie Scott-Kirk and the now late Willie Scott. He is a graduate of Meridian High School. He furthered his education at Meridian Junior College and Vincennes University.
As a civilian, he was employed as a security specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense at Fort McPherson in Fort McPherson, Ga. and a security supervisor with Alpha Protective Services in Atlanta.
He served in the U.S. Army for 13 years and received Military Diplomas from several academies including the Primary Noncommissioned Officer Academy, and the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Academy. His accommodations include a Meritorious Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, seven Army Commendation Medals and four Army Good Conduct Medals. He was a veteran of Operation Just Cause (The Invasion of Panama).
Survivors include his children, Angela Bounds and her husband, Anthony, of Anchorage, Alaska, LaToron Germaine Scott of Atlanta and Abbra Scott of Tacoma, Wash.; his mother, Pearlie Scott-Kirk of Meridian; grandchildren, Tationa Bounds, Anthony Bounds and Tyonna Bounds, all of Anchorage; special daughters, Paris and Milan, both of Atlanta; four brothers; five sisters; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends and a sister Gloria Scott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Scott Sr.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the church.
Joe Lindsey Chambers
Retired
Graveside services for Joe Lindsey Chambers will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Jason Bird officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chambers, 91, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Riley Hospital. He was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church. He was retired from Kroehler Manufacturing. He will be remembered as a devoted sports fan and an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Inez White Chambers of Meridian; a son, Joe O. Chambers and his wife, Jane, of Meridian; grandchildren, Kim Moore and her husband, Dr. Todd Moore of Mobile, Ala., John Chambers and Chuck Chambers and his wife, Nancy, all of Meridian; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ida Chambers and 10 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Howard James Hinson

QUITMAN — Services for Howard James Hinson will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Hebron Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Claude Killian and Grady Crowell officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Northern Clarke County. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hinson, 84, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his son, William B. Hinson of Quitman; a daughter, Glynnie Carol Abston of Quitman; a brother, Raymond Hinson of Meridian and a sister, Adelle Thompson of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Bryant Hinson and Lucy Ann Roberson.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Peggy J. Gray
PHILADELPHIA — Services for Peggy J. Gray will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Foster and Bragston Miley officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery in Union.
Mrs. Gray, 74, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home in Union. She was a native of Mississippi and had made her home in Union most of her life. She was a former employee of Lazy Boy. Mrs. Gray was a member of Victory Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlene Pinson, Karen Foster and her husband, Jack, all of Union; grandchildren, Jennifer Dickerson, Jonathan Hatch, Jessie Pinson, Evan Pinson, Jacia Foster and Jeron Foster; great-grandchildren, Cole Hatch, Melodie Dickerson and Abbie Dickerson; one sister, Darlene Entrekin of Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gray in 2006; two sisters, Martha Scoggins and Wynette Hudson.
Pallbearers will be Evan Pinson, Jonathan Hatch, Danny Smith, Johnny Entrekin, Chris Entrekin and Jason Credille.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

RIDGELAND — Memorial services for Dr. Brad Roderick Moore will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pinelake Baptist Church. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Brad Roderick Moore, 39, of San Diego, Calif., died Friday, September 21, 2007. Dr. Moore originally of Brandon, graduated from Jackson Preparatory School, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi Medical School. He did his residency at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. His specialty in Gastroenterology was completed at MUSC, Charleston, S. C. followed by 5 years practice at NEA Medical Clinic, Jonesboro, Ark. At the time of his death, Dr. Moore was on faculty and a practicing Gastroenterologist at University of California San Diego Medical Center. He will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Suzanne Moore; son Nicholas, age 5, and daughter Alexandra, age 1; his parents are Roderick and Jane Moore of Brandon; a sister, Necole Ray, and her husband, Josh Ray,of Birmingham, Ala., with children Merill, Macy and Cole; his in-laws, Dewayne and Marian Smith of Marion, Ark. and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Drs. Stephanie and Chris Gafford of Fayetteville, Tenn. and their children Morgan and Rowan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Kate Moore of Quitman and Bill and Earline Boswell of Meridian.
The family will be establishing a scholarship in the name of Dr. Brad Roderick Moore at Mississippi State University. Donations in his memory should be sent to: MSU Foundation P.O. Box 6149 MS State, MS 39762.

Betty Jean Lester Guidry
Graveside services for Betty Jean Lester Guidry will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Newton Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Derrick Simmons officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Guidry, 75, of Meridian, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2007, in her home. She will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. “Love the Mama” was a favorite saying when addressing Mrs. Guidry.
Survivors include Loraine LaChute and her husband, Thomas, Betty Myers and her fiancé Pete Peebles, all of Meridian and Claudia G. Mayeaux and her husband, Gerard L. of Katy, Texas; sons, Wayne Myers and his wife, Christine, and Charles Williams, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Dennis LaChute, Steven LaChute, Casey Nielsen, Belinda “BooBoo” Hemphill, Amanda Mayeaux and Kayla LaChute; great-grandchildren, Jessica Hemphill, Alyvia Hemphill and Kasey Luke Nielsen; brothers, James Lester, Robert Lester, Paul Lester and Teddy Lester; sisters, Gerry Lester and Dixie Lester and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Guidry.
