Neil Baggett of Shannon won the 25-lap Super Late Model feature on the final turn of the last lap to claim the $1,500 prize Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.
Baggett became the 38th different driver to win a feature race at the Action Track of the South this season.
Pole sitter David Breazeale of Four Corners took the early lead with Chad Thrash of Collinsville and Baggett in hot pursuit.
By lap three Breazeale found himself in a fierce three-wide battle for the lead with Thrash and Baggett.
As the three drivers continued to battle two and three-wide for the lead, Thrash took over the lead on lap six.
On lap seven the three drivers would once again go three-wide for the lead, with Breazeale regaining the lead on lap nine.
Thrash would regain the lead on lap 10 until heavy pressure by Baggett at the midway point.
Bagget pulled along side Thrash with nine laps to go in a heated battle for the lead until Steve Bryan of Collinsville made it another three wide battle for the top spot.
Thrash took over the lead once again with eight laps remaining with Baggett in second and Bryan third.
Baggett would muscle his way along side Thrash again with four laps remaining. The two raced side by side all the way to the finish with Baggett taking the lead off turn four on the final lap to win one of the most exciting races in Whynot Motorsports Park history.
Thrash finished second with Bryan finishing third.
“This new GRT Car is Awesome” Baggett said following the race. “This race track is awesome, I could race anywhere from the top to the bottom”.
Baggett also said he had not driven a race car since last season until Saturday night.
David Breazeale set fast time over a tough field of Super Late Models in qualifying with a lap of 13.483.
