Kelly Lee Malpass of Biloxi and Dr. Benjamin Wade Wilkerson of Meridian were married on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral in Biloxi, with the Revs. Patrick Mockler and Francis Ferrell officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Boise Ray Butterfield Jr. of Biloxi and the late Robert Lee Malpass, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frank Wilkerson of Meridian.

Grandparents of the bride are Alvin Paul Vallo Sr. and the late Wilhelmina Vallo, Catherine Butterfield of Biloxi and the late Boise Ray Butterfield Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Albert Malpass of Biloxi.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Deloyce Cowart of Meridian and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Elton Wilkerson of Canton.

Music for the ceremony was provided by John Rosonet, pipe organist. Scripture was read by Kathleen Byrne, Rita Murray and Anna Quinlan.

Given in marriage by her step-father, the bride wore a handmade gown of candlelight silk overlaid in organza with a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice featured vintage re-embroidered Alencon lace with hand-beaded pearls from her mother’s wedding gown. The A-line gown fell into a chapel-length train trimmed with a wide band of heirloom Alencon lace. She wore a cathedral-length veil of silk illusion.

Jessica Malpass of Biloxi, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Matron of honor was Karyn Dew of Hattiesburg.

Other attendants were Janet Bradley of New Orleans; Meghan Butterfield of Biloxi, sister-in-law of the bride; Ahna Whitt of Vancleave, cousin of the bride; Shelley Wilkerson of Jackson, sister of the bridegroom; and Betsy Williams of Nashville, Tenn. Anna Miles of Vancleave was the bride’s proxy.

The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Damon Darsey and Joe Pressler, both of Jackson; Christopher Fairey of Memphis, Tenn.; Paul Joiner of Nashville, Tenn.; Brian Ladner and Judson Penton, both of New Orleans; Gordon Mason of Montgomery, Ala.; Michael Rabalais of Baton Rouge, La.; Jonathan Butterfield of Biloxi, brother of the bride; Chad Hoseman of Birmingham, Ala.; and Paul Moore of Lexington, Ky.

Program attendants were Mary Ashley and Natalie Murrah, cousins of the bridegroom.

A reception was held at The Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs following the ceremony.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Mary Mahoney’s Old French House Restaurant in Biloxi on the eve of the wedding.

After a honeymoon to the British Virgin Islands at Peter Island, the couple resides in Memphis.
