Ruby Lee Mauriscy



AUGUSTA, Ga. — A memorial service for Ruby Lee Mauriscy will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kinsey and Walton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl L. Jones officiating.

Ms. Mauriscy, formerly of Meridian, Miss., died Sunday, July 8, 2007, in her home.

Her memories will be cherished by loving family members and friends.

Survivors include her brother, Fred Hardy; aunt, Dinah Crowell; nieces, Patricia Bush her caretaker,Glenda King, Tremaine Parker; great-nieces, Natoya Bush, Airelle Richards;

nephews, Michael Hardy and his wife, Jeneen, Allen Hardy; sister-in-law, Janet Hardy and several other relatives.



James Roy Jefcoat

Retired



Services for James Roy Jefcoat will be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Steve McDonald, Bob Peden and Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Jefcoat, 81, of Meridian, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. He was born on Jan. 17, 1926, in Woodland. He graduated from Union High School, East Central Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served with the 6th Marine Divison, 15th Regiment in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Hamasa Temple, the Saints John Masonic Lodge No. 507, and the York Rite Masonic Bodies.

Mr. Jefcoat was a long time member of Briarwood Country Club. He was a life long railroader and worked for the Meridian and Bigbee Railroad for more than 40 years. Prior to his retirement, he was vice-president of sales.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Coy Smith Jefcoat; a son, Joe Mark Jefcoat of York, Pa.; a daughter, Ann Jefcoat Ferree and her husband, Richard, of Brentwood, Tenn.; granddaughters, Dana Elizabeth Ferree of Thompson Station, Tenn., Kellum Rebecca Ferree of Chattanooga, Tenn., Catherine Ann Ferree and Frances Emily Ferree, both of Brentwood, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cisero Alfred Jefcoat and Mary Lee Kellum Jefcoat and brothers, William Melton Jefcoat and Raymond Alfred Jefcoat.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or the Hamasa Temple Transportation Fund.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Al Jefcoat, Sidney Malone, Tanner Malone, Peter Boles, Joe Mabry and Wayne Rawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Harold Smith, Connie Mack Smith, Leo Rawson and the Briarwood “Big Boys” members of the Masonic Lodge and co-workers at the Meridian and Bigbee Railroad.



Rev. Edward Smith

Minister



Services for the Rev. Edward Smith will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Rev. Smith, 77, of Meridian, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He served as a Southern Baptist minister for more than 57 years. He attended Clark College in Newton, Howard College in Birmingham, Ala., and graduated from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was the minister at Center Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann Smith of Meridian; children, Beverly Stokes and her husband, Billy, of Moundville, Ala., Beth Booker and her husband, Richard, of Canton, Tommy Smith and his wife, Anita, of Meridian, John Smith and his wife, Beth, of Toomsuba, Theresa Ray and Priscilla Richey and her husband, Jonathan, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Joanna Booker, Richie Booker, Lacy Kelly and her husband, Kirk, Alex Smith, Gus Stokes, Heather Brown, Brandon Brown, Jessica Smith, Jacob Smith and Katie Richey; sisters, Gertie Adams, Clara Smith, and Winnie Anderson; brothers, Leonard Smith, Willie Smith and Lamar Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sally Smith; sisters, Kara Smith, Mary Smith and brothers, Clifford Smith and Ray Smith.

Pallbearers will be Richie Booker, Gus Stokes, Jacob Smith, Brandon Brown, Henry Yeager Sr., Henry Yeager Jr. and Les Irwin.



Clarice Hancock Erwin



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Clarice Hancock Erwin will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Longino Cemetery.

Mrs. Erwin, 70, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Lucious C. Coleman

LOUISVILLE — Services for Lucious C. “L.C.” Coleman will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Belmount Baptist Church in DeKalb with the Revs. Cary McDonald and Randall Bohannon officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coleman, 77, of Meridian, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Marion.

Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Farris and her husband, Johnny, of Boston, Shanita Dockery and her husband, Rueben, of Nashville, Tenn., Kimberly Brenston and her husband, Kenneth, of St. Louis; brothers, Odell Coleman of DeKalb, Ethel Gene Coleman and his wife, Lula, of Baton Rouge, La., and Theodis Coleman and his wife, Alice of York, Ala.; sisters, Olivia Bohannon and India Ingram, both of DeKalb; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a special nephew, Randall Bohannon and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sibling.

Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Jack Hendley will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leslie Roberts and Scottie Fulcher officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Yantley.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Presley, Mona Carlisle and Marsha Strong; a son, David Hendley; four brothers; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and four children.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Florence August Fikes-Campbell



INDIANOLA — Services for Florence August Fikes-Campbell will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pearl Street A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Dr. Samuel H. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson. Byas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Campbell, 89, of Jackson, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Mrs. Campbell’s education included a masters’ degree from Jackson State University in Elementary Education with emphasis in Math and English and Education Administration. She retired from the Rankin County School System. She taught in other school districts across the state of Mississippi, which included, Meridian, Starkville and Quitman County School District.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Gloria W. Beal and her husband, Cornelius, of Jackson, Gwendolyn C. Sanders and her husband, Howard R. Sanders Sr., of Jackson and Vivian McGlothin and her husband, Robert, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Lorene Beal and Howard R. Sanders II, both of Jackson, Maria Parker and her husband, Dr. Christopher Parker, Gregory Beal, all of Atlanta, Kent and Keith McGlothin, of Cleveland, Ohio, Denise Augusta Beal of New York, N.Y., Dr. Kyle T. “Stevenson” Sanders of New Rochelle, N.Y. and Felice Sanders-Keys and her husband, Julious of Carson, Calif.; eight grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris Golden of New York, N.Y. and Mae Ola Vaughmer of Detroit, Mich.

Services for Bobby E. Crouch will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Rev. Gilbert Eaves officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Crouch, 70, of Toomsuba, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. He was retired from the Naval Air Station Meridian as a civil service employee. He was a past master of Saints John Lodge No. 507, he was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite and a member of Hamasa Temple Shrine. He attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Crouch of Toomsuba; sons, Keith Crouch of Cookeville, Tenn., Craig Crouch of Toomsuba, Gary Crouch and his wife, Caterina, of Chevy Chase, Md., Robert Crouch and his wife, Tina, of Pearl and Russell Crouch and his wife, Janet, of Toomusba; a sister, Pauline McGinnis and her husband, Paul, of Madison; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Matilda Crouch; a sister, Carrie Belle McCollum and a brother, Leroy Crouch.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
