Services for Charles W. “Ray Bull” Scott will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Meridian with the Rev. Jimmy E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Bailey. E.E. McDonald Community Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott, 31, of Meridian, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the community chapel in Meridian.
Bertha Mitchell Olson
WAYNESBORO — Graveside services for Bertha Mitchell Olson will be held today at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro with the Revs. Dr. Andrew Olson, Todd Olson and Matthew Olson officiating. Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Olson, 91, of Meridian, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. She had been a resident of R.P. White Nursing Home in Meridian.
She was born in Meridian on July 31, 1916, to Arthur and Mae George Mitchell.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Andrew Olson and his wife, Regina, of Waynesboro; grandsons, Todd Olson and his wife, Tammy and Paul Olson, all of Waynesboro; great-grandsons, Wade Olson, Matthew Olson, Andrew Olson and Layton Pitts and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Andrew Olson of Chicago; a grandson, Dr. Mark Olson; brothers, Charles “Cy” Mitchell, Ronald E. Mitchell and a half-sister, Georgette Stogdill.
Margaret S. Steinwinder
BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Margaret S. Steinwinder will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Weed officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Steinwinder, 85, of Butler, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, in Butler.
Survivors include her daughter, Annie Lanier and her husband, John E., of Jachin, Ala.; a brother, Albert Walton Strickland his wife, of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Pennie S. Dempsey, of Meridian, Miss.; grandchildren, Marcie L. Deshotels and Whitney Holladay; great-grandchildren, Margaret Wells Holladay and Hope Louise Holladay and five nieces.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Butler, P.O. Box 300, Butler, AL 36904.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Rev. Edward Smith
Minister
Services for the Rev. Edward Smith will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel wit the Rev. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Smith, 77, of Meridian, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He served as a Southern Baptist minister for more than 57 years. He attended Clark College in Newton, Howard College in Birmingham, Ala., and graduated from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was the minister at Center Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann Smith of Meridian; children, Beverly Stokes and her husband, Billy, of Moundville, Ala., Beth Booker and her husband, Richard, of Canton, Tommy Smith and his wife, Anita, of Meridian, John Smith and his wife, Beth, of Toomsuba, Theresa Ray and Priscilla Richey and her husband, Jonathan, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Joanna Booker, Richie Booker, Lacy Kelly and her husband, Kirk, Alex Smith, Gus Stokes, Heather Brown, Brandon Brown, Jessica Smith, Jacob Smith and Katie Richey; sisters, Gertie Adams, Clara Smith, and Winnie Anderson; brothers, Leonard Smith, Willie Smith and Lamar Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sally Smith; sisters, Kara Smith, Mary Smith and brothers, Clifford Smith and Ray Smith.
Pallbearers will be Richie Booker, Gus Stokes, Jacob Smith, Brandon Brown, Henry Yeager Sr., Henry Yeager Jr. and Les Irwin.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leroy Samuel Burns
Graveside services for Leroy Samuel Burns will be held Friday at noon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ghoulson. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burns, 78, of DeKalb, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Rev. Joe E. Chisolm Sr.

Services for the Rev. Joe E. Chisolm Sr. will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist church in Collinsville with the Rev. Chester Davis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. E.E. McDonald Community Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Chisolm, 57, of Collinsville, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Jessie and Joanna Chisolm on Aug. 11, 1948. He received his formal education in Lauderdale County and was a proud graduate of Middleton Attendance Center.
Rev. Chisolm professed faith in Christ and joined Pilgrim Hill United Methodist Church. He later joined Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school superintendent, deacon and associate minister. He accepted his call to the ministry in 1985 and was ordained under the leadership of the late Rev. David Wash. He was the pastor of Pine Grove Church of Bailey for more than three years and while there, the church was remodeled and he became a full-time minister. He later became pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Meridian and was there for more than eight years.
He was employed by East Mississippi Power Association for more than 25 years and was an employee of Lauderdale County at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of more than 35 years, Maggie; daughter, Stacye and her husband, Damon, of Meridian; sons, Joe Edward Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Fayetteville, N.C., Marcus Kelley of Meridian; a granddaughter, Destiny of Meridian; brothers, George Davis of Bailey and Oscar Davis of Meridian; an aunt, Beulah McDonald of Meridian and several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Tencie L. Jordan of Mobile, Ala., Mary Moton of Fayetteville, N.C., Ethel Lewis and Ida Jean McFarland both of Collinsville, Susie Knighton of San Mateo, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Miles Knighton of Collinsville and several cousins, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday from 7:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. at the community chapel in Meridian.

Mr. Dear, 28, of Quitman, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

James Raymon Smith
UNION — Graveside memorial services for James Raymon Smith will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Little Rock. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 81, of Roswell, N.M., died Friday, May 25, 2007, in his home. He was born and raised in the Hebron Community. He had lived in New Mexico since the late 1940’s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan, Reba, and Rena and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Addie Smith and brothers, J.T. Smith and Myrl Smith.

Mr. Gaines, 63, of Meridian, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
