Cyrus D. Lewis



Services for Cyrus D. Lewis will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lewis, 34, of Collinsville, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Lewis; parents, Sylvester and Pearline Lewis; sisters, Bridgette Brown and her husband, Esau, Andrea Lewis of Collinsville; nephews, Terence, Antonio and Tavis; his mother-in-law, Mary Wooten of Meridian and his dog, Missy.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Augusta Betts.

Visitation will be Friday from 7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.



Sara Elizabeth Linville Heard

Retired educator



NEWTON — Services for Sara Elizabeth Linville Heard will be held today at 11 a.m. at Decatur United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Heard, 80, of Decatur, died Monday, June 18, 2007, in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born in Ripley and grew up in Trenton, Tenn. After graduating from Peabody High School in Trenton, she received bachelor and master degrees from Mississippi State College for Women (Now Mississippi University for Women). She taught science in Columbus and West Point and later taught college level science at East Central Community College and sponsored Phi Theta Kappa. She retired from teaching in 1987. She was an active member of the community of Decatur and belonged to the Decatur First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Progressive Club and the Steel Magnolias. She was a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include her husband, George Heard of Decatur; daughters, Melissa and her husband, Charlie, of Pensacola, Fla., Beth and her husband, Randy, of Forest, Nancy and her husband, Bob, of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, Tom and his wife, Becky, of Madison; grandchildren, Samantha Dorsett, Tyler Dorsett, Jason Eason and his wife, Leslie, Sarah Jane Eason, Matthew Heard, Lauren Heard, Sydney Campbell, Rob Campbell, George Campbell and two great-grandchildren, Eason and Cole Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sarah Linville and a sister, Jane Campbell.

James Howard Watson

Retired



Services for James Howard Watson will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with the Revs. Hal Bates and Bill Webb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Watson, 74, of Collinsville, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where he was a Sunday school teacher. He was a Mason, and a past member of the Lions Club. He was the current president of the Collinsville Water Association. He was the former owner of Watson Snow Ball stand at Highland Park. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force after more than 25 years of service. He retired as a Master Sgt. He received the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Watson of Collinsville; a son, Derek Watson and his wife, Sandy, of Ocean Springs; daughters, Ginger Summerlin and her husband, Jeff, LouAnn Watson and Beth McKeithen and her husband, Neil, all of Collinsville; a brother, Charles A. Watson of Collinsville; sisters, Winnie Rollison of Enterprise and Louise Terry of Russell; grandchildren, Alisha Redmon, Natalie Summerlin, Lindsey Summerlin, Jodi McKeithen and Colton McKeithen and one great-granddaughter, Riley Redmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin J. and Mary Annie Watson and a son, James Michael Watson.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Collinsville or the Gideons.

Pallbearers will be A.J. Wedgeworth, Gary Gibson, Ronnie Dallas, Rod Ezelle, George Rogers, Mark Dean, Jeff Summerlin and Neil McKeithen.

Honorary pallbearers will be T.S. Pigford, Donald Dean and Leroy Rigdon. Members of the U.S. Military will also serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.



LaShawn Ivory Jr.



Services for LaShawn Ivory Jr. will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Zachery Operton officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Infant Ivory, three months, of Meridian, died Monday, June 18, 2007, in his home.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 6 p.m. at the funeral home.



Dora Rivers



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Dora Rivers will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Ron Gilstrap and Gary Rivers officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Neshoba County.

Mrs. Rivers, 81, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in her home. She was a lifelong resident of the Good Hope Community in Neshoba County. She was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Rivers of Oxford, Ala. and Larry Rivers of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Nell Adkins of Philadelphia; a brother, John Wilbur Clark of Belzoni and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurston Rivers; an infant daughter, Nancy Lee and several brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, Highway 485, Philadelphia, MS 39350.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home.







Virginia Dale Sullivan

COLUMBUS — Services for Virginia Dale Sullivan will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ellis Tate and Randy Rigdon officiating. Burial will be in Murrah’s Chapel Cemetery in Columbus.

Mrs. Sullivan, 83, formerly of Columbus, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born on Nov. 26, 1923, in Giles County, Tenn., to the late Roy B. and Eliza Troxler Dale. She lived in this area since 1992, having moved from Tulsa. She was a member of Murrah’s Chapel Baptist Church. She was employed as a teacher at East Mississippi Junior College, Mississippi University for Women and the University of Tulsa, for more than 30 years. She was administrative assistant to the Dean of Continuing Education at the University of Tulsa.

Survivors include her children, Gael Sullivan and Bobby Sullivan, both of Tulsa, Royce Sullivan of Portland, Ore., and Vic Sullivan of Columbus and a grandchild, Dallas Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Coach Bob “Bull” Sullivan.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Pallbearers will be Bob Wilson, Chuck Fleming, Charles Rigdon, Bill Cole, Johnny Stokes, Stanley Clark and James Price.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Steve W. Neal



Services for Steve W. Neal will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in DeKalb.

Mr. Neal, 87, of Meridian, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Aldersgate Retirement Community.

Mr. Brown, 76, of Brandon, formerly of Meridian, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Rankin General Hospital.

Ms. Jimison, 36, of Meridian, died Friday, June 15, 2007, in Meridian.
