Melissa Kay Wilson and Michael Wayne Rutledge were married Jan. 2, 2007, at the Wedding Chapel in the Glades in Gatlinburg, Tenn., with the Rev. Dan Saffelder officiating.

Parents of the couple are David and Judy Hall of Brookhaven and the late Jon A. Wilson of Southaven and Wayne Rutledge and Terri Rutledge, both of Meridian.

The bride is the granddaughter of Doris D. Wahl of Brookhaven and the late Carl M. Wahl, Dorothy Wilson of The Villages, Fla., and the late Clyde A. Wilson.

The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Ray Rutledge and the late Ruthie Rutledge of Meridian.

The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, the bride wore a formal ivory Alencon lace and satin gown featuring a fitted bodice fully embellished with Alencon lace appliqués, iridescent Swarovski crystals, sequins and pearls. The fitted bodice featured a dropped waistline that gave way to a satin A-line skirt, which flowed into a chapel-length train. For her headpiece, the bride wore a one-tier veil of illusion. Her bouquet was a cascading arrangement of purple dendrobium orchids, white lilies and lavender roses.

For their honeymoon, the couple remained in Gatlinburg for a week at a private chalet in the mountains.

The bride received her baccalaureate degree in microbiology from Mississippi State University in 2002. She is a 1998 graduate of Brookhaven Academy and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in microbiology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The bridegroom received his baccalaureate and master’s degrees in computer science from Mississippi State University. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1997. He currently is employed as a computer security specialist at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.
