Maxine R. Dean

Memorial services for Maxine R. Dean will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bethel Southern Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. H.J. Hutchins officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dean, 67, of Kemper County, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Riley Hospital. She was a member of Bethel Southern Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Aubrey C. Dean of Kemper County; daughter, Tanya Dean Ayers and her husband, Lt. Col. Rotha Ayers of El Paso, Texas; sons, Leslie Alan Dean and his wife, Ruth, of New York and Clay Dean and his wife, Anita, of Meridian; a sister, Melva Watt of Gulfport and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Susan B. Coleman Breast Cancer Foundation.
Lange F. Butler

Services for Lange F. Butler will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Episcopal Church of the Mediator with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Butler, 84, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Mediator. He was born in Holly Springs and retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II and served under General George Patton. He was administrator of King’s Daughters for more than 20 years and worked at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He officiated football for more than 40 years. He was a graduate and an avid fan of Ole Miss.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Butler, of Meridian and a sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Tilmon Cox of Gonzales, La.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Crump Butler.
Memorials may be made to Church of the Mediator or a charity of choice.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Butch Shannon, Irby Lang, Trey Freeman, Scott Hudson, Dr. Ben Box, Dr. Ronnye Purvis, Marshall Mowdy, Pete Gaston, Greg Ainsworth and Bill Ready Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be George R. Rea Sr., Ed Owens Sr., Charles Alderman, Norma Gist, Linda Todd, Dr. William F. Reid and Dr. Rick Alexander.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Michelle Christian Pitts
Memorial services for Michelle Christian Pitts will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Lamoreaux officiating.
Ms. Pitts, 17, of Daleville, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, in Lauderdale. She was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Kaleb Allen Miller of Daleville; parents, Chris and Bryan Miller of Daleville; a brother, Matthew Jones of Daleville; a sister, Jillianne “Jilli” Pitts of Daleville; grandmother, Linda Curtis of Lauderdale County; grandfather, Rex Starrett of Arkansas and her grandmother, Hilda Miller of Daleville.
Memorials may be made to Briarwood Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BUTLER, Ala. — Funeral services for Jimmie Thomas will be held Saturday at noon at Miller Hill Baptist Church in Epes with the Rev. Forrest Moore officiating. Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Chapel, Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thomas, 86, of Epes, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, in his home.
Visitation will be held today from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. at the Weatherly Funeral Home Chapel in York and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Helen W. Presley
Services for Helen W. Presley will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Magnolia United Methodist Church in Enterprise with the Rev. James Hare officiating. Burial will be in Musgrove Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Presley, 100, of Enterprise, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Chicago.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
James Leo Broadhead

Mr. Broadhead, 48, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his daughter, Lindsay Broadhead Parten and her husband, Shaun, of Meridian; a son, Zachery “Zach” Broadhead of Meridian; his mother, Martha Nita Tindle of Loganville, Ga.; sisters, Nita Joyce Preston, Loretta Holmes and her husband, Steve, all of Loganville and Jennifer Tindle of Atlanta; grandmother, Margaret Broadhead of Meridian; step-mother, JoAnn Broadhead of Meridian; step-brother, Darryl Fuller; a step-sister, Debbie Thrash; two uncles; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Julie, Steven, Joshua, Nicholas and Zantos.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Broadhead and grandfather, Austin Broadhead.
Alma Jane Abston

Services for Alma Jane Abston were held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hugh C. Davis Jr. officiating. Burial was in Archusa Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Abston, 74, of Collinsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.
Survivors include her daughter, Penny Thrash and her husband, David, of Collinsville; grandchildren, Wesley Thrash, Joshua Thrash, and Brittany Thrash and four great-grandchildren; niece, Sundra Girard of Tulsa, Okla. and Wanza Honea of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Abston.
Sheryl Lynn Monk Coady
Sheryl Lynn Monk Coady, 51, of Meridian, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital. James F. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1955, and raised in Lake where she graduated from high school. She later attended Mississippi State University before pursuing a career in mortgage banking.
Upon her marriage to Ed, they moved to the Chicago area where she was a former vice president for Dovenmuehle Mortgage Company. Also during this time she held conditional vice presidencies for institutions ranging from AmSouth Bank to Morgan Stanley.
Mrs. Coady’s greatest joy was her home and garden in Newton, which she had undertaken to renovate. She was pleased to be able to hostess a Rube family reunion in her home. She was an accomplished cook, often using herbs from her garden. She was a woman at ease whether at her condo in Chicago or at her home in Newton. She graced both North and South with her too short life and she will be missed by all those she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Coady; parents, Gwenneth Hollingsworth and Gerald Monk, brothers, David Foreman and Russell Monk and his wife, Cindy and a sister, Rebecca Owens and her husband, David; nieces and nephews, Gwen Pervis, Matt Pervis, Matthew Owens, Erica Foreman, Zachery Foreman, Jessica Monk, Roberta Monk and great-niece, Olivia Bradford; step-children, Shannon Coady, Tammen Coady and Colin Coady and Matt Felgner of Germany.
