John G. Mimbs Jr.
Retired
Services for John G. Mimbs Jr. will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Faith Christian Assembly in East Dublin, Ga. with the Revs. L.T. Logue and Rodney Ward officiating. Burial will be in Carter’s Chapel Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements and Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran,Ga. is in charge of Georgia arrangements.
Mr. Mimbs, 53, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in his home. He was a native of Georgia and graduated from Hawkinsville High School in Hawkinsville, Ga. in 1972. He worked for more than 25 years with The Life Insurance Company of Georgia. He retired from the insurance business as an Insurance Broker. In 1985, Mr. Mimbs earned his LUTCF, Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow and in 1990, he earned his CLU, Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College.
Mr. Mimbs graduated from Meridian Community College with highest honors in the field of Construction Trades in 2005.
He was an ordained deacon at Russell Baptist Church in Meridian, where he was very active in the Men’s Ministry and the Softball program. He was currently attending Carmel Baptist Church in Meridian.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Harrington Mimbs of Meridian; daughters, Sandra M. Sheffield and her husband, Michael, of Cochran, Ga., Stephanie D. Mimbs and Allyson P. Thompson, both of Meridian; a son, John G. Mimbs III and his wife, Sheree, of Griffin, Ga.; grandchildren, Samantha Sheffield, John Michael Sheffield, Malcolm Askew, Imani Askew, Breanna Mimbs, Kayla Mimbs and Stephen-Michael Mimbs; his mother, Julia R. Mimbs; brothers, Neal Mimbs and his wife, Mildred, of Cochran, Ga., Emory Mimbs and his wife, Marie, of Milledgeville, Ga., Paul Mimbs of Meridian, Bruce Mimbs and his wife, Angela and Ken Mimbs, all of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sisters, Ruth Williams and her husband, Hilder, of Hawkinsville, Gail Mimbs, Sharon Tilson and her husband, Brad, and Kathy Witherington and her husband, Eric, all of Cochran, and Nancy Cannon and her husband, Michael, of Chester, Ga.; mother-in-law, Carol Davidson and her husband, Roger, of Meridian; his father-in-law, Johnny Harrington and his wife, Audette, of Gulfport; brothers-in-law, John Harrington and his wife, Kim, and Edie Matfey, all of Meridian; a sister-in-law, Sherry H. Chaney, of Meridian and 57 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John G. Mimbs Sr.; a sister, Eunice Mimbs; grandparents, Lizzie Thomas Mimbs, Nealy Cephas Mimbs, Ruth Zeak Driggers and Steele Maple Driggers.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Bobby Williams, David Williams, Patrick Mimbs, Dusty Mimbs, Thomas Strand and Steele Mimbs.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Don Elliott, Donnie Meeks, Chris Meeks, Eddie Mimbs, Zeak Cannon, Joe Strand, Jonathan Tilson, Danny Mimbs, Jacob Mimbs, Aaron Witherington and Brandon Witherington.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home and Wednesday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran, Ga.
Don R. Evans

NEWTON — Services for Don R. Evans will be held today at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Sorrell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Evans, 71, of Newton, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at The Regency Hospital of Meridian. He was a member of Newton United Methodist Church. He retired after more than 30 years as a Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Officer. He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors especially flowers. Mr. Evans loved his grandchildren dearly and they were his life.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Bobbie Williams Evans of Newton; a son, Greg Evans and his wife, Kay, of Newton; grandchildren, Kelli Rae Evans and Trenton Graham Evans, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh A. and Ella Loper Evans.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Russell, Bobby Parker, Tiny Parker, Danny Williams, Doug Glenn, Bill Emmons, Clinton Coker and Allen McElroy.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Officers.

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Georgia Ruth Belk will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Charles Barnett, Ray Files and David Hardy officiating. Burial will be in the Neshoba Cemetery.
Mrs. Belk, 80, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Riley Hospital in Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Belk and a son, Dolphus Belk.
Joseph E. Lovett
Services for Joseph E. Lovett will be held today at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Freeman and Lyn Nations officiating. Burial will be in Pine Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Lovett, 25, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, O.E. Lovett of Meridian and Laura Slayton of Meridian; a step-father, Ted Slayton; sisters, Christi Cherwaty of Cape Coral, Fla. and Barbie Rutledge of Meridian; a half-brother, Keith Lovett of Meridian; half-sisters, Tammy Jones and Sherri Harbor both of Meridian and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clayton Walker and Marguerite Walker and Albert and Lula Lovett.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Cherwaty, Marcus Rutledge, John Cherwaty, Justin Clark, Alex Gamble, Nick Urbina and Justin McGee.
Thaddeus Ray Daniels Jr.
BRANDON — Memorial services for Thaddeus Ray Daniels Jr. will be held today at 4 p.m. at Pinelake Baptist Church in Brandon. Ott and Lee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Daniels, 43, of Flowood, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Vicksburg to the late Thaddeus Ray Daniels Sr. and Patricia Ann Daniels.
He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and was a big fan of USM football. He was a former member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson and an active member of Pinelake Baptist Church where he was very involved with the youth.
Mr. Daniels was employed by Sanofi-Aventis as a pharmaceutical sales representative. For most of his career, he was involved in the billboard industry, first with Headrick Outdoor Sign Company and later as owner of Genesis Advertising. He will be defined by his devotion to his faith, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Daniels of Flowood; a son, Thaddeus Ray Daniels III; sisters, Sheila Roberts and her husband, David, of Laurel and Sheryl Denise Daniels of Laurel; nieces, Andrea Roberts Super and her husband, Mike, of Hattiesburg, Emily Denise Roberts of Laurel, Beth Guidry of Lafayette,La., Aimee Michelle Poole of Laurel, Katheryn Nicole Garner of Mandeville, La., Megan Mackenzie Walker of Brandon; nephew, Clint Mason Walker of Brandon; his parents-in-law, Robert and Nancy Garner of Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Joyal Watkins will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Jason Bird and Dr. Johnny Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Watkins, 76, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church. He was retired from the Mississippi Forestry Commission. He was a Mason and a member of St. John Lodge. He was also a member of York Rite and Hamasa Shrine. He was an avid football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Watkins, of Meridian; sons, Joey Watkins and his wife, Kim, of Meridian, Tim Watkins and his wife, Pam, of Memphis, Tenn. and Danny Watkins of Purvis; a daughter, Penny Watkins of Meridian; grandchildren, Daniel Watkins, Andrew Watkins, and Kaylee Watkins, all of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Rebecca Watkins.
Pallbearers will be Franklin Moye, Ricky Spencer, Micky Spencer, Albert Bartlett and Phillip Price.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Michael E. Harrington Sr.

Graveside services for Michael E. Harrington Sr. will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Clarke County with the Rev. Frank Cosgrove officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harrington, 68, of Meridian, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Erin Lewis and her husband, Glen, of Meridian, Michael E. Harrington Jr., of Quitman, John P. Harrington and his wife, Kelly, of Anchorage, Alaska, Jennifer Riley and her husband, Todd, of Quitman, Tim Harrington of Miami Beach, Fla. and Shannon Measell of Quitman.; 12 grandchildren; a brother, John A. Harrington of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur John and Myrtle Harrington and a brother, Kit Harrington.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 42, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a member of Carmel Baptist Church where he served on the grounds committee.
Survivors include his wife, Tammie Smith of Meridian; his mother, Carol Sheahan and her husband, James, of Grants Pass, Ore.; grandmother, Greta Colombelle of Grants Pass; a sister, Tracy Whitehurst of Danville, Calif.; nieces, Briyana and Talyana and several friends.
