Mary Grace Johnson
PHILADELPHIA- Services for Mary Grace Johnson will be held today at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with Revs. Dan Howard and Eugene Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson, 83, of Philadelphia died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at Bee Hive Homes of Philadelphia. She was a retired music teacher. She was a native of Smith County and she received her BS degree in music from the University of Southern Mississippi. She moved to Philadelphia in 1945 and married her husband Norman Johnson, Jr. in 1946. She taught music in both public and private schools for many years. She was a longtime active board member of the National Federation of Music Clubs. She was past president of the Home Arts Club and past president and co-founder of the Neshoba County Arts Council. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Philadelphia where she served as a church organist for many years and was a member of the grounds committee. She was also a member of the Philadelphia Woman’s Club.
Survivors include children, Amanda Bass and her husband Brent of Louisville, Ky., Norman A. Johnson III of Brandon; grandson, Noah Bass of Louisville; and sister, Bonnie Reynolds of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993.
Virginia Sue Lummus Davis
Services for Virginia Sue Lummus Davis will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Chapel , with the Rev. Irvin Earl Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Davis, 52, of Meridian died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include children, Carol Rolison of Meridian, Dalton Davis Jr. of Meridian; grandchildren, Ashley Watson and her husband, Eric, of Meridian, Darrin “D.J.” Rolison Jr. of Meridian, Eden Davis of Philadelphia; mother, Ruby Ray Lummus of Meridian; siblings, Bobby Lummus of Meridian, Clifford Lummus of Meridian, Linda Saucier and her husband, David, of Gulfport, William “Bubba” Lummus of Meridian, Ricky Lummus and his wife Carolyn of Meridian, Kenny Lummus of Meridian, Wanda Houge and her husband, Ricky, of Meridian, Terry Lummus of Meridian, Steve Lummus and his wife Christy of Meridian, Ben Lummus and his wife Rene of Grand Bay, Ala; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Earl Lummus; grandparents, Benjamin Robert and Myrtle Lummus; and nephew, Shane Todd.
Pallbearers will be Charles Walters, Eric Watson, Glenn Brown, Charles Wright, and Michael Corrigan.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ann Lynne Tucker
Services for Ann Lynne Tucker will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at College Park United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Charles Kotten Brook, Duane Maust and Elaine Maust officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tucker, 55, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was employed as an educational director. She was a member of College Park United Methodist Church and was employed as Preschool director of Northcrest Baptist Church. She was director of the After School Program at St. Patrick Catholic Church and she is loved and will be missed by family, neighbors, her church family, co-workers, and friends.
Survivors include parents, Dale and Doris Mossburg of Lake Odessa, Michigan; daughters, Amy Stark and her husband, Michael, of Rohnert Park, Calif., Beth Paczak and her husband, Jeffrey, of Champaign, Ill., JoAnna Tucker of Meridian; sisters, Jean Beckett of Brighten, Mich., Jo Linda Walters of Eau Claire, Wis., and Kay Davis of Traverse, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Tucker.
The family requests memorials be made to College Park United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
William J. Beasley Jr.
Memorial services for William J. Beasley Jr. will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Howard McKey and David Meadows officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Beasley, 89, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was retired from the United States Marine Corp.
Survivors include children, Billy Beasley and his wife, Peggy, of Marion, Texas, Dixie Lindsley of Ely, Nev; sisters, Dorothy Bulman of Meridian, Patsy Fuller of Meridian, Sandra Joyner and her husband, Lester, of Meridian; brother, Charles Beasley and his wife, Elaine, of Woodstock, Ga.; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Reid Beasley; brothers, Walter, James, and Ronald Beasley; and his parents W.J. Beasley Sr. and Johnnie Gamblin Beasley.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shelly Denise Reed
Services for Shelly Denise Reed will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Chapel, with the Rev. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove in Martin with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Reed, 30, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at her home.
Survivors include parents, Sidney and Elizabeth Griffin of Meridian; half-siblings, Sharon Griffin and her husband, Arnold, of Meridian, Jere Ann Ervin and her husband, Dave, of Meridian, James Reed and his wife, Amy, of Demopolis, Ala. and Kenneth Michael Reed of Indiana; grandparents, Wallace and Mary Pruitt of Collinsville, Pauline Griffin of Meridian; aunts and uncles, Ozett Pruitt and his wife, Judy, Nancy Nichalos and her husband, Dale, Bruce Griffin and his wife, Angela, Janice Murphy and her husband, Don; Judy Smith and her husband, Jeff, Teresa Galatas, a special niece and nephew, Lindsay and Craig Boswell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and two great nephews, Cole and Caden.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jarod Reed; and grandparents, Beulah Pruitt and Alton Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Bill Barber, Jerry Myers, Stacey Rogers, Mike Smith, Terry Agent, and Bruce Griffin.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
