The East Central Mississippi Retired Educators’ Association met on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006. After a period of refreshments and fellowship, the meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. President June Estes asked for a moment of silence in memory of three members who died during the summer.

After a devotional by Barbara White, Sherry Morgan introduced the speaker, Lt. Col. Mark Wilson, of the Air National Guard. He showed slides and told about his participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his presentation a brief business meeting was held.

Members brought many school supplies for Carver (Middle School) students and they were commended for their generosity. The next meeting will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at the Senior Citizen Center. All retired teachers and school support staff in the East Mississippi area are invited to become a part of this group.
