Wilhelmina Sabestian Duncan Savelle

CARENCRO, La. — Memorial mass for Wilhelmina “Willie” Sabestian Duncan Savelle will be held Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in the Tucker Community, Miss., at 6 p.m. Melancon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Savelle, died on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in Carencro. She was born on April 15, 1916, and lived most of her life in and around Tucker, and Neshoba County. She spent many years in New Orleans and in Arnaudville, La., for more than 14 years. She owned and operated a grocery store and a chicken hatchery. She was also a seamstress for several major factories. After her retirement she enjoyed making handcrafted quilts, needlework, afghans and dried flower arrangements for her family and friends.
She will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her brothers, J. Pat Duncan of Pascagoula and A.J. “Red” Duncan and his wife, Dot, of Tucker; sons, Jim Savelle and his wife, Patricia, of Montgomery, Ala., and Vernon Duncan Savelle and his wife, Sandy, of Pickerington, Ohio; a daughter, Sylvia June Savelle of Arnaudville; grandchildren, Cindy Savelle Milliman, Donna Schnauder, Julie Ewing, Gary Savelle, Jeff Savelle, Jimbo Savelle, and Michael Schnauder; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Andrew “Chap” Duncan and the former Mae Ella Guthrie; a son, William Savelle; sisters, Nellie Smith and Pauline Skipper; brothers, Cliff, Frank, Jack, Mike and Tom Duncan.
Louise Dent Ferguson George
A memorial service for Louise Dent Ferguson George will be held today at 2 p.m. at Prospect Methodist Church in Collinsville. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. George, of Collinsville, formerly of Collierville, Tenn., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, in her home. She was born in Soochow, China, in 1932, to the late Rev. Franklin C. Ferguson and Elizabeth Dent Ferguson, who were Methodist missionaries assigned to the American University in Soochow. She lived in China until she was eight years old. Her family was forced to return to the U.S., because of the Japanese invasion of China, and her subsequent school years were spent in Georgia and Tennessee, prior to her attendance and graduation from Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans.
She was a lifelong tennis enthusiast, she was one of the organizers, charter members, and first president of the Memphis Ladies Doubles League, an organization that grew to some 1,500 members. She served on the first board of directors for the Wimbledon Tennis Club of Memphis and assisted with the organization of Tennis Charity Challenge Tournaments to aid such charities as Make-A-Wish Foundation, Memphis Interfaith Association and the Ronald McDonald House. In 2002, in recognition of her contributions to tennis, she was inducted into the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame-Tennis Division and in 2005, she was inducted into the Tennessee Tennis Hall of Fame.
Mrs. George was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Memphis, Chi Omega sorority, Pi Sigma Alpha honorary fraternity, the Memphis Medical Auxiliary and the Tennessee Medical Auxiliary, as well as other organizations where she served in various capacities.
Survivors include her husband of more than 50 years, Dr. Lewis W. George of Collinsville; sons, Dr. David Lewis George of Memphis, Tenn. and Bobby Clayton George of Cordova, Tenn.; daughters, Carolyn George Plummer of St. Louis, and Elizabeth Dent George of Phoenix, and seven grandchildren, Lindsey Anne and Claire Catherine Herzog, both of St. Louis, Lewis Watson II, William Adams and Frances Dent George, all of Memphis and Henry Rankin and Mary Broughton George of Cordova.

HATTIESBURG — Services for Willis Terry will be held today at 3 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Davis officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Terry, 82, of Hattiesburg, formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Terry; daughters, Mary Fokakis and Sheree Knight; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bay Street Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Christian School or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Larry Allen Jones
Graveside services for Larry Allen Jones will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Newton County with the Rev. Ray Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Allen, 59, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a 20 year veteran of the Mississippi Army National Guard and loved to serve his country.
Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth “Jenny” Jones of Meridian and Semper Jones of Meridian; sisters, Johnnie Wilkerson and her husband, Vic, of Meridian and Ann Allen and her husband, Ray,of Gulfport; a brother, Eddie Jones and his wife, Cheryl, of Meridian and several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Military.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Tommie L. Davis
Graveside services for Tommie L. Davis will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Little Zion Cemetery in Stonewall with the Rev. James Hair officiating. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis, 68, of Quitman, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman.
Cathy Darlene Floyd
Services for Cathy Darlene Floyd will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Floyd, 46, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, in her home.

HATTIESBURG — Services for Roger B. Howell will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Howell, 73, of Hattiesburg, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Forrest County General Hospital. He was a retired Brigadier Gen. in the Mississippi Air National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Howell; sons, Greg Howell, Gary Howell, Scott Howell and Michael Howell; one sister; two brothers and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter and a son.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Audie T. Morgan

Ms. Morgan, 92, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2006, at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home in Union.
Survivors include her son, Joe Morgan; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one nephew and three nieces.

Edward Monroe

Mr. Monroe, 59, of Columbia,Tenn., formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Maury Regional Hospital.
He was a native of Meridian, and was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie Ree Hodges Monroe. He was a cattle farmer and a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Linda Monroe; sons, Douglas Monroe of Rockvale, Tenn. and Peyton Monroe of Mt. Jackson, Va.; sisters, Billie Knight and Eva Lou Pace, both of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mrs. Vann, 27, of Coffeeville, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, in Quitman.

Mr. Campbell, 86, of Livingston, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in Meridian.
