Terri Lynn Milstead Cook

Educator



QUITMAN — Services for Terri Lynn Milstead Cook will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Cullum officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook, 44, of Stonewall, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, in Meridian. She graduated from Mississippi State University where she received a degree in math education. She taught at Quitman Junior High, Northwest Junior High School, Northeast Lauderdale, West Hills Middle School in South Jordan, Utah. She currently was an educator at Southeast Lauderdale High School.

She was involved in many community activities and wrote a weekly article for The Clarke County Tribune called “The Stonewall Chatter.” She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she taught Sunday school, worked with youth and was involved with many other church activities.

Survivors include her son, Bradley Addair Cook and his wife, Kristen, of Pataskala, Ohio; her parents, Virginia and T.D. Milstead of Stonewall; a brother, Eddie D. Milstead and his fiancé Jennifer Phillips and a nephew, Conner Wilson Milstead, all of Stonewall.

Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.



George Davis Scott

Retired



Services for George Davis Scott will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Greg Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott, 86, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, New’s Coffee Club, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Utopian Club and the Navy League.

He was retired from Meridian Cigar Company after more than 30 years as a salesman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Harwell Scott of Meridian; sons, George Davis Scott Jr. and his wife, Karon, of Starkville and Roy Ernest Scott of Meridian; daughters, Ann Scott Ezell and her husband, Royce, of Meridian, Theresa Jane Barnett of Pearl and Rebecca Marie Scott and her husband, John, of Thailand; step-sons, Richard Clay Hamilton and his wife, Michelina, of Meridian, John Marshall Hamilton of Newark, N.J. and Joseph Elliott Hamilton and his wife, Malissa, of Meridian; brother, Homer Cleveland Scott and his wife, Ann, of Clinton; sisters, Janie Slay and her husband, Horace, of Clinton and Ruth Hickson of Memphis, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a special friend, Bingo.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund, the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, Palmer Children’s Home in Columbus or St. Jude Hospital, 1505 N. Parkway Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Scott, Clifton Scott, Ken Barnett, Terry Scott, Lee Ezell, Paul Barnett, Ted Gardner and Scott Slay. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernice Fleming, Lamar Ross, James Flanagan, Bryant Null, John Dunn, Jim Edwards, Phil Lee, J.W. Espey and Howard Combs.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.



Stephen Curtis Overstreet



SARALAND, Ala. — Services for Stephen Curtis Overstreet will be held today at 2 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Overstreet, 40, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in his home. He was self-employed with a maintenance and remodeling business.

Survivors include his mother, Gloria Neal Overstreet of Saraland; his father, Donnie Overstreet and his wife, Sandy, of Meridian, Miss.; his brother, Greg Overstreet of Grand Bay; a sister, Robin Lynch and her husband, Kevin, of Citronelle; step-sister, Stacy Kent and her husband, Sam, of New Jersey; step-brother, Tré Barton of Charlotte, N.C.; paternal grandmother, Merlene Overstreet of Meridian; maternal grandmother, Edith Moon of Huntsville, Texas; three nephews, Zachary Overstreet, Mason Lynch and Andrew Kent; nieces, Maegan Lynch, Madison Lynch and Mallory Lynch and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, the Rev. Oscar Overstreet and maternal grandfather, Curtis Neal.

Visitation will be today from noon until service time at the funeral home.



Sarah Anne Calabrese

Services for Sarah Anne Calabrese will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Calabrese, 66, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in her home. She was the retired child care director at Naval Air Station Meridian.

Survivors include her husband, Vince Calabrese; sons, Michael Lamoreaux and his wife, Kathy, and the Rev. Jamie Lamoreaux and his wife, Shannon, all of Meridian, Timothy Carrol and his wife, Judy, of Elkton, Md.; grandchildren, Weldon Lamoreaux, Ashton Lamoreaux, Ryan Lamoreaux, Karen Lamoreaux, Brian Carrol and Amber Carrol.

Milton Louis Creagh Sr.

WAYNESBORO — Services for Milton Louis Creagh Sr. will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Meridian with the Rev. Ludrick Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Turner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Creagh, 74, of Meridian, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in his home. He was a retired U.S. Postal worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Military and served in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Flarizell Creagh of Meridian; a son, Milton Louis Creagh Jr.; a daughter, Cyde D. Creagh; sisters, Arnetta Howze of New York, Florida Newell of Shubuta, Maxine Horne of West Palm Beach, Fla., Rannie Woulard of Shubuta, Naomi William of Detroit and Susie Staten of Chicago; brothers, Eddie Gerome Creagh of Meridian and Thomas Creagh of Detroit and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Randa Gail; a brother, Edward Creagh and sisters, Caroline Timmons and Rommie Plumo.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans or to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 9:45 a.m. until service time at the church.



Nina Mae McGrew

Services for Nina Mae McGrew will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Carey McDonald officiating. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McGrew, 70, of Meridian, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, in her home.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Curry Jr. and Leo Curry; daughters, Adelle Hurde, Mamie McGrew and Mary McGrew; one brother; 17 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.



Leo L. Hatcher

Retired



Services for Leo L. Hatcher were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Keith Grubbs, Bill Webb, Gilbert Eaves and David Hopkins officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Hatcher, 68, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Riley Hospital. He was born on Feb. 19, 1938, to the late Robert and Inez Hatcher in Lauderdale. He was retired from the Mississippi Highway Patrol as a dispatcher. He married Mary Sharp of Philadelphia and was a devoted husband with an unconditional love for her so like that of his Heavenly father. He instilled in his three sons a steadfast faith. As a father, he accompanied his sons to church and church camps. He led them in family devotions and his legacy of faith will live on through them and his grandsons.

He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and served as a Royal Ambassador Leader, usher and greeter. On Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, he was posthumously ordained as a deacon by the Ordination Council. His family and friends want to say “You were a trooper in every sense of the word. May you lay all your trophies at the feet of your Savior.”

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sharp Hatcher of Meridian; sons, Dean Hatcher and his wife, Renee, of Russelville, Ark., Andy Hatcher and his wife, Courtney, and Aaron Hatcher, all of Meridian; grandsons, Brennan Hatcher and Jaxon Hatcher; a brother, Stacy Hatcher and his wife, Leta, of Jacksonville, Fla. and a sister, Faye McKay Powers of Foley, Ala. and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Robert Hatcher and his parents-in-law, Mary and Elmo Sharp.

Memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church building fund, 4579 Old Eighth Street Road, Meridian, MS 39305.

Pallbearers were Burton Fuller, Howard Fuller, Othel Herrod, Ronald Wright, Wayne Driskill and Terry Lanterman.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Troop H Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Rod Ezell Sunday School Class of Midway Baptist Church.
