Services for Mattie Jane Davis will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Chunky Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Campbell and John Jacob officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis, 81, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired Postmaster at Chunky Post Office after more than 25 years. She was a member of Chunky Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for most of her adult life and she was a member of the choir.
Survivors include her husband, J.D. Davis of Chunky; daughters, Glenda and Bill Duncan of Chunky and Patsy and Randy Webb of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Mary Edna Dearing of Newton; grandchildren, Stacey Pace, John D. Shand, David Shand, Chad Noel, Kevin Noel and Chelsey Buseman; nine great-grandchildren and a special friend, Billy Joe Gressett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Robert Dearing, John Shand, David Shand, Chad Noel, Kevin Noel and Roy Dearing. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Hurst and Roger Shirley.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leo L. Hatcher
Retired
Services for Leo L. Hatcher will be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Keith Grubbs, Bill Webb, Gilbert Eaves and David Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hatcher, 68, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Riley Hospital. He was born on Feb. 19, 1938, to the late Robert and Inez Hatcher in Lauderdale. He was retired from the Mississippi Highway Patrol as a dispatcher. He married Mary Sharp of Philadelphia and was a devoted husband with an unconditional love for her so like that of his Heavenly father. He instilled in his three sons a steadfast faith. As a father, he accompanied his sons to church and church camps. He led them in family devotions and his legacy of faith will live on through them and his grandsons.
He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and served as a royal ambassador leader, usher and greeter. On Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, he was posthumously ordained as a deacon by the Ordination Council.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sharp Hatcher of Meridian; sons, Dean Hatcher and his wife, Renee, of Russelville, Ark., Andy Hatcher and his wife, Courtney, and Aarron Hatcher, all of Meridian; grandsons, Brennan Hatcher and Jaxon Hatcher; a brother, Stacey Hatcher and his wife, Leta, of Jacksonville, Fla. and a sister, Faye McKay Powers of Foley, Ala. and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Robert Hatcher and his parents-in-law, Mary and Elmo Sharp.
Memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church building fund, 4579 Old Eighth Street Road, Meridian, MS 39305.
Pallbearers will be Burton Fuller, Howard Fuller, Othel Herrod, Ronald Wright, Wayne Driskill and Terry Lanterman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Troop H Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Rod Ezell Sunday School Class of Midway Baptist Church.

Mrs. Maloney, 74, of Meridian, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
She will be remembered as one who gave her greatest gift of love to her family and all those she met. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Maloney; children, Selina M. Ratliff and her husband, Edward E., Deborah A. Dawson and her husband, Paul W. Sr., John J. Harry Everett Beemon

Mr. Beemon, 78, of Chunky, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in his home. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a former instructor at Meridian Community College. He was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Chunky. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and an American Patriot.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Clearman Beemon of Chunky; a son, Tim Beemon and his wife, Dotty, of Meridian; a daughter, Sonja Cunningham and her husband, Barry, of Hampden, Maine; a brother, Harvey Beemon and his wife, Helen Ann, of Quitman; a sister, Clara Crabtree Rigdon and her husband, James, of Chunky; a brother-in-law, Lavell Holt of Brandon; a sister-in-law, Elsie Chamblee of Union; granddaughters, Erin McKenzie, Stacey Cunningham, Jill Basham and Elizabeth DeLong; great-grandsons, Gabe McKenzie, Conner McKenzie and Walker Beemon Basham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Arda Mae Beemon; a sister, Carmen Holt; a brother, Gressett Beemon and an infant son, Perry Wayne Beemon.

George Davis Scott

Services for George Davis Scott will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Greg Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott, 86, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, New’s Coffee Club, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Utopian Club and the Navy League.
He was retired from Meridian Cigar Company after more than 30 years as a salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Harwell Scott of Meridian; sons, George Davis Scott Jr. and his wife, Karon, of Starkville and Roy Ernest Scott of Meridian; daughters, Ann Scott Ezell and her husband, Royce, of Meridian, Theresa Jane Barnett of Pearl and Rebecca Marie Scott and her husband, John, of Thailand; step-sons, Richard Clay Hamilton and his wife, Michelina, of Meridian, John Marshall Hamilton of Newark, N.J. and Joseph Elliott Hamilton and his wife, Malissa, of Meridian; brother, Homer Cleveland Scott and his wife, Ann, of Clinton; sisters, Janie Slay and her husband, Horace, of Clinton and Ruth Hickson of Memphis, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a special friend, Bingo.

Mr. Adams, 53, of DeKalb, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Mississippi Care Center in DeKalb.
Survivors include his brother, Willie Adams; sisters, Bettye Chamberlain and Della Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Ms. Willis, 49, of Carthage, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Choctaw Health Center.
