• The Focus on the Family video seminar “Your Child” will be presented Sunday nights in August at 6 p.m. at First Assembly Church, 1929 Highway 19 North in Meridian.
Narrated by Dr. James Dobson, the seminar will offer insight on the essentials of discipline and will feature up-to-date research on parenting, humorous animated vignettes, “Mom and Dad on the Street” interviews and practical, approachable teaching.

• The 31st Avenue Baptist Church family will celebrate the 11th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. S.L. Thompson, with a Pre-Anniversary Roast/Toast at 6 p.m. The Rev. Henry Arrington, pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, will serve as toastmaster/pulpiteer.
The celebration will continue Sunday at 10:45 a.m. with the Rev. Marcus Thompson bringing the message. The celebration will culminate with a program at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Lt. Cmdr. Melvin Hendricks, pastor of First Union Baptist Church, as guest speaker.

• The congregation of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will host a 125th anniversary celebration, homecoming and revival, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by afternoon activities. • PACHUTA — Revival will begin and continue through Friday at John the Baptist Church. The Rev. Willie Hales, pastor of New Pilgrim and Union Baptist Church, will kick off the revival at 2 p.m. The Rev. Sam McDonald Jr., pastor of Pineville and Pine Valley Baptist Church, will be evangelist for the week; services will begin at 7:15 each evening.
• The congregation of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate the church’s 122nd anniversary at 3 p.m. “The Legacy of a Solid Foundation … The Church Still Stands,” from Nehemiah is the theme. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Zachary Operton. The church is at 3700 Davis St.
• PACHUTA — Revival will be held through Friday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Services today will begin at 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by lunch. • QUITMAN — Mt. Nebo African Methodist Episcopal Church’s annual One-Day Revival will be held Aug. 20. Morning worship will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Mack Chamber Jr. delivering the message. Evening worship will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Willie Thompson, pastor of New Salem Baptist Church in Whynot, as guest speaker. The church is 18 miles east of Quitman in the Crandall community.
• COLLINSVILLE — Homecoming and anniversary services will be observed Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Avant of Macon will be guest speaker. The church’s fall revival will be held Aug. 21-25, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. James Howell of Faulkner will be guest speaker.
