Frances Louise Rutledge

Services for Frances Louise Rutledge will be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stevie Rutledge and Sister Angela officiating. Burial will be in the Long Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Rutledge, 72, of Meridian, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, in Forest. She was a homemaker who loved going to church at Southside Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her son, Alan Rutledge of Meridian; daughters, Betty Gunter, Ann Brewer and Becky Wilkerson, all of Meridian and Mary Watkins of Forest; several brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



Dr. William Saffold Weems

Physician



SALT LAKE CITY — A private family memorial service will be held today in Salt Lake City for Dr. William Saffold “Billy” Weems.

Dr. Weems, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Meridian, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, in his home. He was born on Oct. 10, 1936, to Sarah Johnston and Albert Williams Weems Sr. He was raised in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School in 1954. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate of medicine degree simultaneously from Tulane University. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and upon his return he settled in Salt Lake City where he practiced medicine as a pathologist with LDS Hospital until completing his board certification in dermatopathology in 1974. He established a private dermatopathology practice where enjoyed a reputation for excellence among his colleagues around the world.

Dr. Weems had a passion for teaching. He pioneered an educational Web site, and was affiliated with the University of Utah Medical School for more than 25 years as an adjunct professor.

He will be remembered by all who knew him as an intelligent, witty and thoughtful friend.

Survivors include his wife, June; his children, Stephanie Weems and Michael Weems, both of Salt Lake City, Cheryl George of New Hampshire; brothers, Albert Williams Weems Jr. of Meridian, Miss., and Sterling Johnston Weems of St. Petersburg, Fla.; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Herbert Harold Harger



Services for Herbert Harold Harger will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Lockhart Church of God Cemetery.

Mr. Harger, 78, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his son, Terry Harger and his wife, Billie, of Los Angeles; daughters, Kim Tullos and her husband, Jimmy, of Decatur and Sandy Rickey Driskell of Hollandale; sisters, Jean Reed of Quitman, Nita Gullette of Monroe, La., and Clarice Caldwell of Meridian; brothers, Sonny Harger of Longview, Wash. and Lester Harger of Monroe, La.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Richard Allen Mozingo Sr.

QUITMAN — Services for Richard Allen Mozingo Sr. will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Beech officiating. Burial will be in Mosley Bridge Cemetery in Gilbertown, Ala.

Mr. Mozingo, 70, of Meridian, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, in his home. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and Lockheed-Martin and worked at Meridian Machine Works as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Meridian Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Mozingo, of Meridian; a son, Beau Mozingo and his wife, Rhonda, of Meridian; a daughter, Michelle Hoffer and her husband, Casey, of Meridian; brothers, Robert Mozingo and his wife, Helen, of Nashville, Tenn., and John Mozingo and his wife, Helen, of Meridian; sisters, Joann Walker of Howe, Ind., and Mary Ann Spurgeon of Bryant, Ala.; grandchildren, Catherine Hoffer, Jacob Hoffer and Tyler Mozingo and several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Marc Davis of Kemper County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Mozingo and Helen Aleene Morrison and a brother, Harold Mozingo.

Visitation will be today beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Bullock, 61, of Meridian, on Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Meridian Community Living Center.

Services for Roy Clelon Cumberland will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lauderdale United Methodist Church with the Revs. Davey Wilkinson and Russell Luquire officiating. Burial will be in Lauderdale Springs Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cumberland, 77, of Lauderdale, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church. He was a member of Lakeview Senior Golf Association. He was the retired owner and operator of Cumberland General Merchandise at Lauderdale.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cumberland of Lauderdale; sons, Mike Cumberland and his wife, Reneé, of Lauderdale, Keith Cumberland and his wife, Patti, of Amory and Gary Cumberland and his wife, Kaye, of Flora; sisters, Mozelle Yarbrough of Newton, Dianne Hackett and her husband, Ed, of Brandon, Sue Ely and her husband, James, and Sarah Chaney, all of Philadelphia; a brother, Dulane Cumberland and his wife, Linda, of Newton; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Inez Cumberland of Decatur; a brother, Gurvis Cumberland of Philadelphia and a grandson, Justin Cumberland.

Memorials may be made to Children’s Building Fund, Lauderdale United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 67, Lauderdale, MS 39335.

Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lakeview Seniors Golf Association.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Lorene Cumberland will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. Bob Goodyear officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cumberland, 60, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, in her home.

Survivors include her husband, David Mingo; daughters, Clara Jim, Gina Cotton and Jamie Cumberland; a son, Marvin Bell; eight sisters and five brothers; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be in the family home in Philadelphia and began on Monday.
