• WHYNOT COMMUNITY — Bethany Baptist Church’s annual Memorial Day/Homecoming Service held the second Sunday in May has been changed to Sept. 24.

• JACKSON — Promise Keepers will return to the Mississippi Coliseum Aug. 4-5 for “Unleashed: Releasing the Raw Power of Your Heart.” The event will feature a music concert, six keynote speakers and live worship.

Promise Keepers is a Christ-centered organization dedicated to introducing men of all ages to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and then helping them to grow as Christians.

THURSDAY

• The three-day youth conference Contagious ‘06 will kick off with a basketball game at 7:30 p.m. in Robert Turnage Gymnasium, Meridian High School.

The conference will be held Friday and Saturday at Fifth Street Church and will feature a series of workshops. General session speakers will include Shamond Scales, Bo Jefares, Richard Bumpers, Carlos Stennis, Thomas Key and Scotty Cole.

A program of worship will feature The Cross-Eyed Bank, The Karah Dancers, Aisha S. Key, and William Myles and Young People of Praise (YPOP). Registration is $10.
