QUITMAN — Services for Amy Elizabeth Jones were held Friday at 1 p.m. at Shubuta Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Harris and John Brown officiating. Burial was in Chapparal Cemetery in Wayne County. Wright’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Jones, 29, of Shubuta, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in her home. She was a member of Shubuta Baptist Church. She was employed by Walt Disney World in Orlando as a financial analyst for five years.

Survivors include her parents, Phillip and Mary Taylor Jones of Shubuta; a brother, Rob Jones of Shubuta; paternal grandmother, Katie Jones of Shubuta; maternal grandparents, J.W. and Mildred Wells of Waynesboro and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Shubuta Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or Gideons International.



Roxie M. Godwin



UNION — Services for Roxie M. Godwin will be held today at 9:30 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. H.L. Rhodes and Linzy Evans officiating. Burial will be in Old White Plains Cemetery.

Ms. Godwin, 74, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Manley; a son, Henry Bishop; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two sisters; three brothers and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband.



Etta Kinard Gully Smith

DEKALB — Services for Etta Kinard Gully Smith will be held today at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with the Revs. Scott Harrell and Dr. Owen Gordon officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, 101, of DeKalb, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Mississippi Care Center of DeKalb. She was born on May 28, 1904, and lived all of her life in the Mt. Nebo Community of Kemper County. She was a farmer’s wife, she gardened all of her life and worked on the farm. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of DeKalb Homemaker’s Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jean Dixon and her husband, Ted, of Mt. Nebo; grandchildren, Ted Dixon Jr. of Frisco, Texas, Susan Harrell of Ojai, Calif., Elaine Tisdale of Mt. Nebo, and Patsy Lavassani of Ridgeland; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Rose Smith of Mt. Nebo and her children, Dennis Wesley of Baton Rouge, La. and Laurie McArthur of Mt. Nebo and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Clemons Smith; a son, Thomas Glenn Smith; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Renfroe and a brother, Alvey Gully.

Pallbearers will be Bill Brace, Curtis Cullum, Billy Dixon, Larry Gibson, Gene McArthur and Robert Smith.



Mary Helen Stanley Jenkins



GILBERTOWN, Ala. — Services for Mary Helen Stanley Jenkins will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Springbank Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jenkins, 71, of Silas, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Kennie Jenkins; a son, Randall Jenkins; five nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.



Doyle Merl Smith

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Doyle Merl Smith will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Neshoba County.

Mr. Smith, 74, of Collinsville, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare-Broadmoor.

Survivors include a son, Barry Smith of Collinsville; a daughter, Lisa Smith of Collinsville; a granddaughter, Sidney Smith of Collinsville and a sister, Dorothy Faye Jones of Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith; two brothers; one sister and his parents.

Visitation will be today from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gracie Mae Davis Halbert



QUITMAN — Services for Gracie Mae Davis Halbert will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Grady Crowell and Dennis Coats officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Halbert, 86, of Quitman, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman. She was a retired inspector and folder of Quitman Knitting Mill. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Quitman and served in the nursery department for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Marie Welch Donald and her husband, Jimmie N. Donald Sr., of Gilbertown, Ala., and Faye Halbert Williams and her husband, Johnny, of Quitman; a son, Richard Halbert and his wife, Donna, of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Nathan Donald and his wife, Brenda, and Jeffery Donald and his wife, Tammy, all of Gilbertown, David Halbert and Dawn Strahan, both of Hattiesburg, Tiffany Shumaker and her husband, Michael and Shauna Chapman and her husband, Clint, all of Quitman; great-grandchildren, Dustin Donald, of Auburn, Ala., Brent Donald, Erica Donald, and Ryann Donald, all of Gilbertown, Ashton Williams, Jacob Ford, Ethan Chapman, all of Quitman, Jarred Chapman of Meridian and Allyson Strahan of Hattiesburg; siblings, Clifton Davis and his wife, Alice, of Wheaton, Md., Lucille Booth of Chesapeake, Va., Ruby Beshears of Rockville, Md., Albert Davis of Montgomery, Ala., and Hazel Barker of Long Beach, Ann Callahan and her husband, Lamar, of Meridian, Ethel Jackson and her husband, Johnny Ray, of Stonewall and Nell Gavin of Quitman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward “Ed” Davis and Lura Annie Long Davis; her husband, John Richard Halbert; siblings, Austin Davis, Jimmy Davis, John Davis, Maudie Davis Williams, William Edward “Buddy” Davis Jr.

Arrangements were incomplete at Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home for Arthur Rush, 83, of Preston, who died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Riley Hospital.
