Lawmaker to visit Clarke County

State Rep. Virginia Carlton, R-Columbia, will be at Long’s Fish Camp in Enterprise on Monday at 7 p.m. to speak at a fund-raiser hosted by the Clarke County Republican Women.

Tickets are $20 and include a “whole fish” plate with the trimmings. Tickets can be purchased from members of the Clarke County Republican Women. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.

The event will mark the beginning of the Clarke County Republican Women’s fund-raising drive. Carlton is an attorney and serves on many committees in the state Legislature, including education, judiciary, juvenile justice, labor, marine resources and colleges and universities. She is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves.

Marsha Roberts, program chair for the Clarke County Republican Women, said Carlton will speak about current legislation and how women have impacted the political scene.
