James M. Canterbury Jr.

Services for James M. “Eli” Canterbury Jr. will be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Canterbury, 57, of Meridian, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Canterbury will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a dependable, dedicated retired supervisor for Automotive Engine Crankshaft Company and was loved by all his friends and co-workers.
He was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church and was an avid NASCAR race fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mary Kay Canterbury of Meridian; his father, James Canterbury; a daughter, Tina Cates and her husband, Timmy, of Meridian; sons, James Canterbury III and Jason Canterbury and his wife, Tiffany, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Holli Cates, Kristina Whittington, Matthew Cates and Michael Canterbury; a sister, Rose Smith and her husband, Bobby Ray, of Bailey; a brother, Joseph Canterbury and his wife, Jenny, of Suqualena; special friend, Jeanette Watson and friends at Aseria Care Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dicie Canterbury.
Pallbearers will be Allen Gartrell, James Thorne, James A. Rolison, Dean Tolbird, Clarence Thompson, and Mack David Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Mosley, Allan Kock and Johnny Beard.
Louise Cole
Services for Louise Cole will be held today at 11 a.m. at East Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Bohannon officiating. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cole, 88, of College Park, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in her home.
Survivors include her grandsons, Charles Daryl Walker and his wife, Jimmie, of Chicago and Sean D. Cotton of College Park; great-grandchildren, Raven Walker and Lonyae Porter, both of Chicago.
Lucy M. Morgan
Services for Lucy M. Morgan will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at First United Baptist Church in Stonewall with the Rev. Johnny Pierce officiating. Burial will be East Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Morgan, 87, of Stonewall, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Irby Jean Scott and her husband, Lee, of Stonewall; grandchildren, Melissa Davis and her husband, James, of Brandon, Kimberly Hopson and her husband, Jonathan, of Madison, Casandra Jackson and her husband, Michael, and Terrence Scott and his wife, Sabrina, all of Meridian and nine great-grandchildren.

QUITMAN — Graveside services for Mary Jo Smith will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Stonewall Cemetery with the Rev. John Edwards officiating. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 65, of Quitman, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her sisters, Marvelle Martin, Mildred Herrington, Kathy Smith and Faye Ferguson.
