Ellis, Wilkerson





Dr. Shelley Elizabeth Wilkerson of Jackson and Stewart Todd Ellis of Madison were married Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Highland Baptist Church in Meridian with the Rev. Carl White officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frank Wilkerson of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Ellis Jr. of Madison.

Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Deloyce Cowart of Meridian and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Elton Wilkerson of Canton.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Ellis Sr. of Jackson, Lucille Knight Barr and the late Ben Doyle Barr of Sumrall.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Barry Germany, pianist; Dr. Charles Gates, trumpeter; Susie Johnson, flutist; Temperance Babcock, violinist Ty Maisel, violinist; Tammy Luke, violinist; Stephanie Maisel, cellist; Dr. Rhonda Wilson, vocalist; and Rebekah Wade, vocalist. Reader was Allie Lauren Wilkerson.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. She wore a diamond white, Godavari silk, strapless gown. The modified sweetheart neckline featured soft intricate beadwork of crystals and pearls and the mermaid skirt swept into a chapel-length train.

Matron of honor was Leslie Sims Carruth of Meridian.

Other attendants were Kelly Malpass Wilkerson of Memphis, Tenn.; Molly Ellen Ellis of Meridian, sister of the bridegroom; Mary Elizabeth Massey Ellis of Canton; Linden Marie Vess of Homewood, Ala.; Erin Forrest McElroy of Birmingham, Ala.; Elizabeth Killingsworth LaJeune of Cumming, Ga.; Dr. Lee Tucker Herrin of Flowood; Dr. Sarah Frances Crain of Ridgeland; Dr. Jennifer Lynne King of Madison; and Dr. Wendy Renee Almon of Madison. Proxy bride was Crystal Nicole Brown of Memphis.

Taylor Blake Burchfield of Sanford, N.C. and Julia Elizabeth Farris of Hattiesburg were flower girls.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man.

Groomsmen were Charles William Ellis III of Canton, brother of the bridegroom; Dr. Benjamin Wade Wilkerson of Memphis, brother of the bride; Daniel Thompson Ratliff Jr. of Vicksburg; Samuel Justine Gardner of Starrett, Ala.; William Sheldon Scarborough of Oxford; Colby Roland Mason of Ridgeland; William Walker Suber of Tallahassee, Fla.; Harold DeFord Walker III of Olive Branch; Nicholas Blake Mims of Northport, Ala.; and Benton McLeod Hoover of Yazoo City.

Ushers were Caleb Lee Cope of Alexandria, La.; Kirtley Duval Whittington of Ridgeland; Matthew Carlton Legg of Memphis; and Charles Floyd Cain III of Caruthersville, Mo.

Riley Porter Morris of Hattiesburg and William Steelman Carruth of Meridian were ring bearers.

Program attendants were Elizabeth Hill Anderson and Lauren Michelle Mayer.

A reception was held at Northwood Country Club following the ceremony. Music was provided by “The Flames” of Starkville.

After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, West Indies, the couple resides in Jackson.
