Claire Lynn Brewer of Shubuta and Ian Eli Floyd of Magee were united in marriage Saturday, May 7, 2011, in an outdoor ceremony at the Rogers-Green House in Laurel, with the Rev. Ron Stanley officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James C. Brewer Jr. of Shubuta, and Mr. and Mrs. John R. Johnson of Magee and the late Craig Floyd.
Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. James C. Brewer of Shubuta and the late Mr. Brewer, and Mrs. Morris R. Jones of Quitman and the late Mr. Jones.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mrs. Howard E. Floyd of Magee and the late Mr. Floyd, and Mrs. O.G. Cole of Magee, and the late Mr. Cole.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, as a musical quartet played Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus”, the bride wore a designer gown of ivory lace with a mermaid silhouette. It was adorned with an empire ribbon and precious stone embellishment, and was finished with a scalloped hem line and semi-cathedral train. The bride wore a birdcage veil and carried a bouquet of white roses and peonies wrapped in silk ribbon accented with pearls. On her bouquet she carried her grandmother’s diamond and sapphire broach for “something blue.”
Attending her sister as maid of honor was Beth Brewer of Naples, Fla.
Matron of honor was Emma Kate Williams of Quitman, and bridesmaid was Erin Sorey of Byram.
Tyler Floyd, brother of the groom, of Magee, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Chase Grayson of Gulfport, and Brent Freeman of Hattiesburg.
Program attendants were Madeline Jefcoat of Hattiesburg, and Jamie Brinkman of The Woodlands, Texas, cousins of the bride.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Susie Johnson, flutist, of Meridian, and her children: Benjamin Johnson, cellist, Jenna Johnson, guitarist, and K.K. Johnson, violinist. Vocalist was Julia Donald of Quitman.
A reception was held at the Rogers-Green House following the ceremony.
The couple resides in Clinton.
