Compton, Spengler

MERIDIAN —      Sarah Annie Spengler of Brandon and William Hewlett Compton of Meridian, were married Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew in Jackson with the Very Rev. Edward F. O’Connor officiating.

    Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William Stephen Spengler of Brandon and Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson Compton of Meridian.

    Grandparents of the bride are Eula Spengler and the late Charles Spengler of Brandon and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Spencer of Tupelo.

    Grandparents of the bridegroom are Jo Ann Apperson and the late Dr. William B. Apperson and Bettye Compton and the late William B. Compton Sr., all of Meridian.

    Music for the ceremony was provided by Dr. John Paul, organist, Darcie Bishop, trumpeter and The Thomas Lowe String Quartet.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a designer ivory lace gown of two-toned champagne chiffon, accented with a delicate overlay of champagne Chantilly lace with a chapel-length train. Her veil was a double-overlay of cafe' au lait piped in ivory.

    Maid of honor was Laura Marylea Hooks of Brandon.

    Bridesmaids were Sarah Noelle Bateman of Jackson, Amy Catherine Cole of Pelahatchie, Caroline Dimmitt Compton of Meridian, sister of the bridegroom, Rachel Kay Iupe of Madison and Bryce Whitley White of Brandon.

    Anniston Lex Monsour, cousin of the bridegroom, served as a flower girl.

    The bridegroom’s father served as best man.

    Groomsmen were John Hays Compton of Austin, Texas, Brian Joseph Lewis of Starkville, John Mark McIntosh of Oxford, Adam Miller Shields of Starkville, Samuel Stephen Spengler of Brandon, brother of the bride, Clark Houston Wells of Jackson and Travis Brandon Woods of Starkville.

    Ushers were Christopher Dylan Maples of Meridian and Patrick Covington Valentine of Brookhaven, cousin of the bridegroom.

    Hays William Monsour, cousin of the bridegroom, served as ring bearer.

    Program attendants were Jessica Mallory Bales and Jessica Kate Reedy, both of Brandon, and Emily Owen Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.

    Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at River Hills Club of Jackson. The crowd was entertained by the band Mo Money.

    On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Capital Club of Jackson.

    After a honeymoon to Whistler Ski Resort in British Columbia, the couple is at home in Jackson.
