Sargeant, Patton

MERIDIAN —     Virginia Faith Patton of Quitman and Christopher Jon Sargeant of Aldershot, England, were married Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Meridian’s historic Grand Opera House with the Rev. Dr. Gene Neal officiating.

    Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dowe Patton III of Quitman, Mr. Phillip John Sargeant of Ascot, England, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter John Shiret of Yeovil, England.        

    Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Austin Smith Jr. of Quitman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dowe Patton Jr.            

    Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mrs. Henry William Sargeant of Laindon, England, and the late Mr. Sargeant, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Heyden Bruton.    

    Music for the ceremony was provided by The Lamb Family, violinists, and Mrs. Holly Burroughs, pianist.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Leroy Dowe Patton III. She wore a strapless gown of white taffeta adorned with embroidered lace, crystal beading, sequins and gold metallic accents. The dress featured a corset bodice and a semi-cathedral-length train.

    Maid of honor was Laura Patton of Brandon.

    Other attendants were Courtney Stewart Jernigan and Robin Henderson, both of Brandon, Kristen Satcher Schrimpshire of Quitman, Claire Wells of Breaux Bridge, La., and Amanda Hammac of Miramar Beach, Fla.

    The bridegroom’s niece, Holly Soole of Bracknell, England, was flower girl.

    Rob Robinson of Manchester, England, was best man.

    Groomsmen and ushers were Phil Sargeant, father of the bridegroom, of Ascot, Will Robinson of Manchester, Jackson Purvis and Michael Saucier, both of New Orleans, La., and Joe McLeod of Quitman.        The bridegroom’s son, Jack Sargeant of Aldershot, served as page.

    Readers were Fiona Shiret, mother of the bridegroom, and Kristen Schrimpshire.                Wedding greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hull and Mr. and Mrs. George Sellers Jr.            

    A reception was held at The Riley Center following the ceremony. Music was provided by bands, Meet the Press and River Left and D.J. Rob Robinson.

    After a honeymoon at Tabacon Resort in Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Aldershot.
