MERIDIAN —

 

    Suzanne Elizabeth Scales of Jackson and Robert Nelson Rutherford of Tupelo were married Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter the Apostle in Jackson, with the Very Reverend Father Jeffrey Waldrep officiating.

    Parents of the couple are Lt. Col. and Mrs. Robert David Scales of Collinsville and Mr. and Mrs. James Nelson Rutherford of Tupelo.

    Grandparents of the bride are the late Dr. and Mrs. James Webb Scales of Starkville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Herman Scruggs of Tupelo.

    Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Henry Gunner of Tupelo and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jasper Rutherford of Guntown.

    Music for the nuptial mass was provided by Jessica L. Nelson of Tupelo, organist, and vocalists Emily Stanfield of Arlington, Va., Jacqueline Coale of Baton Rouge, La., Henry Waters of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew Black of Jackson.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a corseted off-the-shoulder designer gown of hand-ruched, ivory Italian silk and was finished with a chapel-length train. She wore her mother’s antique cathedral-length veil that was adorned with Venetian lace. The bride also wore her grandmother’s pearls.

    Maid of honor was Heather Nicole Gauthier of Shreveport, La.

    Other attendants were Kelly Sellers Wittie of Hammond, La., Lauren Michaud of Boston, Mass., Marilee Rutherford Gomez of Southaven, sister of the bridegroom, and Theresa Houston Scales of St. Augustine, Fla., sister-in-law of the bride.

    Anna Gabriela Gomez and Andrew Robert Gomez, both of Southaven and niece and nephew of the bridegroom, served as flower girl and ring bearer, respectively.

    Best man was Bradford Corban of Berkeley, Calif.

    Groomsmen were Bryan Sexton of Pontotoc, Tyler Burns of Natchez, Ricardo Gomez of Southaven, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Dr. Charles Scales of St. Augustine, Fla., brother of the bride.

    Ushers were Trevor Theilen of Dallas, Marsh Nippes of Jackson and Brandon Fontenelle of Little Rock, Ark.

    Program attendants were Andrew and Alexander Eymann of Holister, Calif., cousins of the bride.

    Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the University Club of Jackson. Assisting at the reception were family friends Mr. and Mrs. William Cooper of Tullahoma, Tenn.

    After a honeymoon in South Carolina, the couple resides in Ridgeland.
