Murphy, Wiggins

MERIDIAN —     Haley Elizabeth Wiggins of Meridian and Joseph Anthony Murphy of Oxford were married on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Oxford-University United Methodist Church. The candlelit ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Register Sikes of Meridian.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mark Timothy Wiggins of Meridian. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen McKee of Jackson, Ala., and Odessa Wiggins Colquett and the late John Julius Wiggins of Monroeville, Ala.

    The bridegroom is the son of the late Mrs. Laura Eaves Murphy of Booneville, and the late Mr. Gerald Anthony Murphy of Covington, La. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wayne Eaves of Crawford, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murphy of Sneads, Fla.

    Music for the ceremony was provided by Jason Derrick, organist; Dr. Charles Gates of Oxford, trumpeter; Paul Turnbow and Roy Brewer, violinists; Beth Luscombe, violist; Jonathan Kirkscey of Memphis, Tenn., cellist; and  Samantha Rogers and Brent Strauss of Oxford, vocalists.

    Escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture Pnina Tornai gown of silk satin. The mermaid-style gown featured a ruched waistline with a three-tiered skirt that flowed into a chapel-length train. Swarovski crystals adorned the neckline and along the hemline of the ruching. Her chapel-length veil was edged with Swarovski crystals and accented throughout. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, peonies, roses, and calla lilies hand-tied with satin ribbon featuring a gold crescent brooch worn by her maternal grandmother on her wedding day.

    Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Heather Wiggins Moffatt of Oxford.

    Bridesmaids were Jessica Glynn Fort of Meridian, Caroline Stillwell Frierson of Shreveport, La., Whitney Finn Greer of Richmond, Va., McKenna Claire Mehle of Madisonville, La., Caroline Pugh Plyler of Memphis, Lauren DeAnne Tullos of Shreveport and Kimber Lee Williams of Birmingham, Ala.

    Junior bridesmaids were Britton McLain McElroy and Campbell Malone McElroy of Meridian. Ann Revere Davis of Memphis served as flower girl.

    Best man was Benjamin Julius Borrelli of Gulfport.

    Groomsmen included Christopher Carridine Davis of Crawford, Carson Allen Kisner of Jackson, Jacob Kyle Mills of Freeport, Maine, James Stephen Moffatt of Oxford and Jonathan Cameron Phillips, both of Oxford, Jeffrey Martin Swann of Little Rock, Ark., and Aizaz Ali Toor of Austin, Texas.

    Junior groomsman was Holden Manning McElroy of Meridian.

    Ring bearer was Henry Elvis Phipps of Water Valley.

    Ushers were Thomas Eric Davis of Starkville, William Durham Finn of Oxford, Derrick Stephen McKinley Holland of Planterville and Ryan Gerad Walters of Pascagoula.

    Program attendant was Ashley Elizabeth Jolly of Meridian.

    Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Power House Community Arts Center. Guest were entertained by 14 Karat Gold from Atlanta. 

     After a honeymoon in Turks and Caicos, the couple is at home in Oxford, where the bride is employed with the Oxford City School District and the bridegroom is attending the University of Mississippi School of Law.
