• 8 a.m.-4 p.m. — Flu shots will be available at the Lauderdale County Health Department. Pneumonia shots will also be provided. You must bring your Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare card. Medicaid and Medicare free. Adult flu shots: $25. Adult pneumonia shots: $48. Childhood flu shots: $10.

• Poplar Springs Elementary School is having its Fall Scholastic Book Sale. We have books for all ages, from board books for babies to cook books for adults. Stop in to see our wide selection of chapter and science books as well. The sale is in the library and is open during school hours.

• 6 p.m.-9 p.m. — The 12th Annual Meridian Retiree Celebration will be at the Frank Cochran Center, Highland Park, Meridian. All Meridian-area retirees and seniors age 60 and over are invited to attend. This event features a BBQ dinner, dancing to the Main Street Band, and door prizes from area merchants. There is no charge, but advance reservations are needed. Please call 601-484-6841 to make reservations.
