MERIDIAN — Today

    • 9 a.m.— Magnolia Middle School will be hosting a parent training session in an attempt to engage parents in the educational processes of their children. The event will be held in the Magnolia Middle School Auditorium. For more information call Jonas Crenshaw Jr at (601) 484-4060.

    • 10 a.m.-1 p.m.– East Jasper School District is hosting a Health/Safety Fair and a College/Career Fair in the Heidelberg High School Gymnasium. A Choir Competition will be held at 6 p.m. There will be food, games and rides. Child arm bands can be purchased for $5.

    • 10 a.m.-Noon—Tall Tales & Recollections monthly meeting will be at the E. M. E. P. A. on Hwy 39. All storytellers and listeners are welcome, including newcomers. For more information call 601-485-7778 or 601-681-8525.

    • 6 p.m.— A free concert featuring Christian artist Jamie Jorge, a world class violinist, will be held in the Community SDA Church. The concert will feature favorite hymns to contemporary praise songs. For more information call (601) 482-4084.

    • 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.— Otha Barham and the Daydreamers will play classic, popular, and country music at the Meridian Activities Center. Admission is free.

    • 2 p.m.—The Superintendent of Education and the Board of Trustees of the Meridian Public School District invites the public to attend the Dedication Ceremony of the new R.D. Harris Building at Meridian High School. Following the ceremony the public will be able to tour the building and meet the administration and faculty.

    • 4 p.m.— The R.B. Temple #739 and the Metropolitan Lodge #551 is hosting the Annual Black History Month Program at the Elk's Lodge. Everyone is invited. For more information call Hazel Moore at (601) 626-7032.

    • 5 p.m.— East Jasper School District is hosting a Gospel Concert featuring "The Canton Spirituals". Tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance or $25 at the door and can be purchased at the central office. The concert will be held in the school gymnasium.

    • 6 p.m.— The Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Chunky will be holding a revival service at the church with special singing.

    • 6 p.m.— The Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Chunky will be holding a revival service at the church with special singing.

    • 6 p.m.—The Chickasawhay Art Council will be holding a ceremony for the exciting new addition to the council. Come out for an evening of entertainment, foot and excitement. The ceremony will be held at the Quitman, MS Depot.

    •  6:30 p.m.—The East Central Kennel Club will meet the first Monday of every month at Western Sizzlin Steak House. Join as they prepare community projects (obedience classes and DogFest '10) for our canine friends and owners. For more information or questions call (601) 693-7194.
