No injuries in Pontotoc school bus accident

PONTOTOC, Miss. —

No one was injured when a Pontotoc City School bus, carrying 38 students, was rear-ended by a truck.

Highway Patrol officer Philip Mitchell says the accident happened Thursday afternoon onVeterans Highway about a mile west of the Pontotoc city limits.

Mitchell told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal the school bus had stopped to let off students at a house when the small Green Serv company truck ran into the back of the bus.

He said the driver told officers he fell asleep.

Mitchell said that ambulance personnel responded to the scene and checked out the students, but no one appeared to be injured.
