Car strikes, kills Tunica woman

WALLS, Miss. — An 18-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a car in DeSoto County.

Coroner Jeff Pounders tells The Commercial Appeal Annie Lipsey of Tunica was pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. Highway 61 Friday night.

Pounders said Lipsey and her boyfriend were apparently walking back toward a store after one of the tires on their car blew out.

He says Lipsey stepped into traffic and was struck by a car. The boyfriend wasn't injured.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
