3 dead in Wayne Co., suspect arrested

WAYNESBORO, Miss. —

Wayne County authorities have charged a 28-year-old man with three counts of murder in the shooting deaths of three family members.

Sheriff's Department chief investigator Mike Mozingo says the bodies were found about 7 a.m. Tuesday when deputies went to the Pleasant Grove community home of the suspect's grandmother after she missed a doctor's appointment.

Mozingo says all three had been shot. A handgun was retrieved from the scene.

Mozingo says Calvin Burroughs was hiding under the kitchen table in the house and did not resist arrest.

Authorities identified the victims as Mitchell Henderson, 51; Sandra Trotter, 54; and Kerry Williams, 73. Mozingo says Trotter was Burroughs' mother, Williams his grandmother and Henderson a male relative.

Burroughs was being held in the county jail pending an initial court appearance.
