Murder charges filed in 2012 homicide

SENATOBIA, Miss. —

A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a missing man found shot and stuffed inside a trash can near his Tate County home last year.

On Nov. 30, the Tate County Sheriff's Department found the body of 31-year-old PatrickAntonio Jones about 200 yards north of his home in Independence. His death was ruled a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. Jones had been reported missing days earlier by his family.

On Thursday, The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/XRZdi6) the sheriff's department announced in a news release the arrest of Floyd Newsom Jr.

Sheriff Brad Lance said he could not discuss a motive in the case, but said the suspect and the victim knew each other.

It was unclear whether Newsom has an attorney.
