Man arrested in pursuit from Biloxi to Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. — Police have arrested a man whose run from police began after he allegedly stole sodas from a Dollar General store in Biloxi and crashed into a Dollar General store in Gulfport.

The Sun Herald reports 54-year-old Dana Andrew Porter, of Gulfport, was arrested Wednesday on charges of felony eluding and misdemeanor shoplifting.

In between the alleged shoplifting and crash, Biloxi police Sgt. John Campbell said Porter was speeding to avoid police and his vehicle vaulted over a barricade at a construction site, and then he ran from the crash in Gulfport.

Campbell said Porter allegedly took six cartons of Pepsi products from the Biloxi store.

Porter is being held in the Harrison County jail.

It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
