Police search for robbers of Gulfport bank

GULFPORT, Miss. —

Gulfport police are searching for two men who held up the Hancock Bank branch.

Deputy Commander George Chaix tells The Sun Herald the bank was robbed shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday and one of the men was armed with a handgun. No one was injured.

Witnesses reported the robbers fled in a white pickup.

Chaix says the truck was found a short time later abandoned.

Police believe the robbers got into another vehicle, possible a silver, four-door sedan.
