Man, 86, dies in Gulfport wreck

GULFPORT, Miss. —

Authorities in Harrison County said a man died Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident.

The SunHerald reports that police say the driver was headed south on Mississippi Highway 605 when he veered off the road and slammed into a traffic light pole. Gulfport firefighters who responded to the 2:02 p.m. accident had to cut the man out of the vehicle.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the man as 86-year-old Otis Bailey of Gulfport.

An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death. Hargrove said Bailey had a heart condition.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
