Pastor sentenced in child porn case

HERNANDO, Miss. — A Hernando pastor who pleaded guilty to child exploitation has been sentenced to two years.

Officials say the Rev. Edward Earl Prince is serving the time in the DeSoto County jail.

Prince's attorney, Stan Little of Hernando, tells The Commercial Appeal that prosecutors agreed to allow Prince to serve his sentence in the local jail.

Prince pleaded guilty June 18. He was arrested in 2010 and charged with possession of child pornography for using a computer at the public library to view and download child pornography.

Prince was pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Hernando police said the computers in the library have software to keep people from viewing inappropriate material. However, investigators said Prince managed to get around the filters and firewalls.
