The Story

Inspired by “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” by T.S. Eliot, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical is the story of a tribe of “Jellicle cats,” who come together in celebration of the annual Jellicle Ball. This ball marks the most important night of the year for the cats. It is here that one of them will be chosen to journey to the Heavyside Layer, a place of rebirth, new life and true happiness. As a part of the ball, each of the Jellicle Cats must try to convince their wise leader, Old Deuteronomy, that they should be the cat chosen to go the Heavyside Layer.
