West Lauderdale hoped to rebound from last week's loss at Meridian. Neshoba Central had other plans. The Rockets ran wild past the Knights securing a 28-6 victory.
West took the early lead with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Lott to Shydai Lewis. The PAT was no good leaving the Knights ahead 6-0. That would be the last time the Knights would see the end zone.
Neshoba got their motor running later in the first quarter scoring on an 8-yard rush on the legs of O'Neil McCarty. Caleb Crenshaw connected ont he PAT giving the Rockets a 7-6 lead.
In the second quarter, Rockets quarterback Josh Stewart broke free for a 24-yard touchdown scamper. Crenshaw's PAT was good putting Neshoba up 14-6 heading into the half.
In the third, McCarty took a sweep to the house for a 41-yard touchdown rush. Crenshaw again connected on the PAT giving Neshoba a 21-6 lead.
The Rockets wrapped up the game in the fourth quarter with a 9-yard scoring run from Stewart. The PAT was good locking up the 28-6 victory.
Stewart led the Rockets' ground game with 147 rushing yards while McCarty was right behind him with 112 rushing yards. The Rockets racked up 352 total yards on the ground.
The Rockets defense played a stellar game as well. Jacoby Lewis led the effort with nine tacklees and a sack. Ken Edwards racked up eight tackles and two fumble recoveries. Jacob Gilbert and Terrance Steele also finished the night with eight tackles each.
Neshoba's Dillon contributed with seven tackles and two fumble recoveries while Martin Wilson had an interception with a 21-yard return.
There were 11 total turnovers on the night. Neshoba had six while West had five.
Neshoba remains undefeated at 2-0 on the season. West Lauderdale falls to 0-2. Neshoba will be back in action next week at Philadelphia while West travels to Gulfport.
