Making a statement
Clarkdale girls soccer coach Lea Castleberry wanted to send a message Tuesday night in the MHSAA Class 1A/2A/3A North State championship.
Statement made.
The Bulldogs controlled play throughout, blasting McLaurin 5-1 while rolling up 26 shots on goal at Chris Mabry Field. With the win, the Bulldogs advanced to Friday's state championship game at 4 p.m. at Clinton High School. Clarkdale will face Our Lady Academy, a 3-1 winner against Sacred Heart in the South State title game. -
Philly boys survive Forest to advance to state championship
In recent years, the Philadelphia Tornadoes boys soccer team's season would end in the first or second round of the state playoffs.
In the 2011-2012 season, however, things will be different. The Tornadoes advanced to their first state title game in soccer by virtue of their 2-1 overtime victory against the Forest Bearcats in the Class 1A/2A/3A North State championship Tuesday night at Harpole Stadium. -
Sims, defense lead Wildcats past Titans on senior night
LaKendrick Sims made his senior night count, scoring a game-high 22 points, while Meridian forced 32 Ridgeland turnovers to bounce the visiting Titans 59-50 on Tuesday night.
