Roundup - Clarkdale soccer sweeps Northeast

Paige Gower's late goal netted Clarkdale a 2-1 win against county rival Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs got an earlier goal from Sarah Beckman before Gower scored from 30 yards out on a free kick into the upper left corner with nine minutes remaining.

Amber Spann recorded seven saves to help Clarkdale improve to 2-0.

The Bulldogs host West Lauderdale today.

Clarkdale won the boys game in a shootout after a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation.

Mason Tabb and Micah Redmond netted goal for the Bulldogs, who improved 2-0, with the shootout win. Matt Taylor had five saves for Clarkdale.

Clarkdale hosts West Lauderdale today.

The Rebels outscored host Tri-County 35-6 in the first quarter as they breezed to the win Tuesday.

Leake upped its lead to 46-11 at the half.

Hannah Peoples was the only double-digit scorer for Leake with 14 points, while also hauling in five rebounds and recording four steals. Emily Kea added nine points as 11 Rebels scored.

Tri-County was paced by Joan Childress' six points.

Leake (5-1) visits Oak Hill Academy today.
