The Meridian Community College golf team concluded play in the 2012 Jim Redgate Tournament at Briarwood Country on Tuesday afternoon and finished third among the eight teams entered.
The Eagles finished third behind Central Alabama and Wallace State. MCC shot 302-305-297 for a three-round total of 904.
TJ Morgan earned a spot on the All-Tournament team with rounds of 71-76-73. Aksel Olsen from Wallace State won low medalist shooting 74-67-74.
Other MCC players with a quality tournament were freshmen Austin Sparks, Drew Patin, (both finished tied for 16th) and Chase Taylor (18th). Freshman Nathan Kirkland rounded out the top five.
Gafford White finished 19th in the field, while Dallas Shepard ended his tournament in 25th position. Tate Hughes and Jace Weaver also competed for the Eagles in the annual event.
"We had wonderful conditions at Briawood CC this week," said MCC golf coach Ronnie Key.
"The course was in great shape and the weather was perfect. The guys each played hard and are improving each tournament. We are very young and inexperienced, but our players have been working hard these last few weeks."
The Eagles return to tournament play on October 23-23 at the District IV Preview in Pendleton, S.C.
