Turnovers and big plays proved costly for East Central Community College on the road Thursday night in its MACJC South Division opener.
Copiah-Lincoln scored on an interception return and a punt return as the Wolfpack routed the visiting Warriors 47-10 at H.L. Stone Stadium
ECCC’s freshman quarterback Colton Kane threw four interceptions, the first being returned 16 yards for a score by Greg Sims. The Wolfpack then got two rushing touchdown from Darius Guy and led 20-0 in the second quarter.
ECCC, which fell to 0-3, then got two straight scores to give itself a chance. Austin Franklin booted a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter to pull the Warriors within 20-3 at the break.
ECCC then got its own big play when Kane hit Ricky Hunt on a 90-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter that made it 20-10 Co-Lin. However, it was all Wolfpack after that.
Co-Lin quarterback Chandler Rogers threw two touchdown passes to DeVante Scott, the Wolfpack added a rushing touchdown and then finished off the scoring with a 43-yard punt return for a score from Casey Gladney.
East Central, which returns to Bailey Stadium on Thursday when Southwest Mississippi visits for a 6:30 p.m. start, got 88 yards rushing from Keshun Shipp on 16 carries. Kane completed 16 of 27 passes for 217 yards and the four interceptions to one touchdown.
Rogers threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 20 of 32 passing to lead the Wolfpack. Guy, meanwhile, had 56 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 14 carries.

Bulldogs win again, beat S. Carolina in SEC Tournament
Demarcus Henderson and Wes Rea both had RBI singles in the ninth inning to lift Mississippi State to a 5-3 win over South Carolina Wednesday night in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
The Bulldogs (42-16) loaded the bases with one out before Henderson and Rea drove in runs on consecutive at-bats for the second time in the game.
Mississippi State had beaten Missouri 2-1 in 17 innings Tuesday night, matching the longest game in SEC tournament history.
Reliever Myles Gentry (4-0) limited the Gamecocks (39-17) to a one-out single in the bottom of the ninth.
Gentry pitched 5-2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight.
Rea was 3 for 4 while Henderson drove in three runs.
Mississippi State led 3-0 before South Carolina tied it up in the fourth.
Max Schrock drew a bases loaded walk and Brison Celek followed with a two-run single. -

Morgan takes runner-up at Nationals
Meridian Community College golfer, TJ Morgan, from Bruce, MS, tied for the
individual medalist at the NJCAA D1 National Championship held in Lubbock, TX, but lost on the first hole of a playoff. TJ shot 7 under for the tournament with a 76 on the first day followed by 68, 67 and a last round 70. Aksel Olsen from Wallace State Community College won the playoff.
