MERIDIAN —
It took the entire 48 minutes, but Sebastopol found a way to put Clarkdale away on the final play of the game with no time remaining Friday at Chris Mabry Field, winning 28-22.
Tied at 22, Sebastopol scored on a broken play from 60 yards away, after the officials waved off a penalty. Clarkdale, though, had its chances early to take control and was unable to do so.
The Bulldogs turned the ball over on downs inside the Sebastopol 20 on the opening drive of the game and after falling behind, Clarkdale then fumbled inside the Sebastopol 5.
"We turned it over way too much and we can't do that and expect to win many ballgames," Clarkdale coach Chris Richmond said.
The Bulldogs did get scoring runs from Spencer Dickerson, Blake Mauldin and Austin Emerson, before Sebastopol's big play late spoiled the night and sent Clarkdale to an 0-2 start.
"We have to take care of the game and not leave it in the officials' hands," Richmond added.

The Trojans lost six turnovers, including four inside the 30 on the road Friday night.
"We were fortunate it was only 40-14," Northeast coach Curt Blackburn said.
Northeast got scoring runs from Phillip Everett and Josh Everett, but still fell to 1-1.
"If we can work on securing the ball, we'll be OK," Blackburn said. "We moved it up and down on them at times, we just turned it over way too much."

Philadelphia 29
Kosciusko 6
Philadelphia began the scoring when John Harold Smith knocked in a field goal from 23 yards out to put the Tornadoes up 3-0. After a Kosciuko touchdown from Jamari Robi, Philadelphia answered back with a 12-yard run from Jacardius Griffin to give the Tornadoes the lead back 10-3.
The game would remain at that score until Philadelphia's Josh Fulton returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown, putting the Tornadoes up 16-6 after a failed extra point attempt.
Griffin would take it from there, running a touchdown in from 6 yards out in the third quarter and from 8yards out in the fourth quarter, as the Tornadoes cruised to victory.
