MERIDIAN — Northeast Lauderdale scored five runs in both the first and second innings Tuesday night in the Lake Tournament to run-rule Ethel High and improve to 9-2 on the season.
Cain Mayatt, Johnny Huntley and Will Abbey each doubled in the contest. Abbey also had two RBIs to pace the Trojans.
Alex Stegall got the win for NEL pitching a complete game, while allowing just two hits and striking out six.
Northeast will resume tournament action tomorrow as it hosts Philadelphia in a 4:45 p.m. start.

The Bulldogs scored three times in the first inning and then tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning at Lake during the Lake Tournament on Tuesday.
The Yellowjackets scored twice in the third.
Seth Kidd picked up the win for Enterprise (6-3). Kidd helped his own cause with an RBI single. Other hitters for the Bulldogs were Ethan Williams with two singles, Ethan Howell with two singles and two RBIs and Jeremy Kidd, who doubled, singled and had an RBI.
Union, which fell to 6-4, had just four hits in support of Jonathan Gibbs (2-2).
Enterprise plays Kosciusko at 9 a.m. today at Lake, while Union faces Richland today in the tournament.

The Yellowjackets banged out 15 hits Monday at the Lake Tournament, scoring runs in each of the first four innings.
Union scored three in the first and then added five in the second and seven in the fourth as Jamie Elliott improved to 1-0.
Elliott doubled, while Shundrick Landfair, Garrett Clark and Brian Sullivan all had two doubles. John Carr Bates also doubled. Landfair, Clark and Gibbs all had three hits, while Sullivan had two.

Pettey aces 17th hole at Northwood
Joe Pettey recently recorded a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at Northwood Country Club. Pettey used a 9-iron to cover the 138 yards, while playing with Joe McClurkin, Clark Gordon and Joe Stewart.
