SCOOBA —     With the tip-off of the MACJC basketball season set for this week, East Mississippi Community College will offer fans an early opportunity to preview the 2012-13 EMCC men’s and women’s basketball teams with Monday’s “Late Night with the Lions” event on the Scooba campus.  Slated for a 9 p.m. start at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum, admission is free to EMCC’s preseason basketball event.

Along with player introductions for head coach Sharon Thompson’s Lions club and head coach Mark White’s eighth-ranked Lions squad, Monday’s 90-minute hoops preview is also set to feature a dunk contest involving members of the EMCC men’s team as well as 3-point shooting contests by both squads. The preseason event is scheduled to conclude with separate intra-squad scrimmages by both EMCC basketball teams.

EMCC will then entertain Meridian Community College a week later on Nov. 8. Both upcoming home basketball doubleheaders are set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with women’s action followed by 7:30 p.m. men’s contests.
