Philadelphia scored the final 24 points Friday as the Tornadoes defeated visiting Northeast Lauderdale 38-7 at Harpole Stadium.
The Tornadoes, 5-0 and ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, raced out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Romon Gray scored from 11 yards out to put Philly up 6-0 and after Jacardius Griffin ran in from 15 yards out, the Tornadoes converted on a two-point opportunity when Gray hit Abe Mars.
Northeast, which fell to 2-3, then pulled within a score as Josh Everett ran in from a yard away. Kaytee Nelson, former Northeast coach Steve Nelson's daughter, then hit the extra point for her first career point in her first game.
From there, though, it was all Philly. John Harold Smith hit a 25-yard field goal and Gray found TJ Hudson for a 54-yard touchdown to put the Tornadoes up 24-7 at halftime. Anthony Triplett returned an interception 22 yards in the third quarter and Ahmad Tatum scored on a 14-yard run in the fourth.

Kemper Academy improved to 4-1 on the season, as the Rams took down their rival Vikings on Friday.
The Rams got things started when Jason Craig ran in a 34-yard touchdown followed by a successful two-point conversion by Austin McAdory to put the Rams up 8-0.
The two switched roles later in the quarter, as McAdory rushed for a 45-yard touchdown and Craig punched in the two-point conversion.
Craig added another touchdown on the ground before the end of the quarter, and Dusty Davis found Dylan McFarland in the end zone for two, as the Rams led 24-0 after the first quarter.
McAdory added a 66-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Davis added a 10-yard touchdown-run in the third, as the Rams headed into the third quarter up 40-0.
After Central punched the ball in from the 1-yard line. Brandon Burrage answered back for Kemper as he returned a 65-yard kickoff for a touchdown to cap off the scoring.
Kemper Academy hosts Delta Academy next week.

Calhoun Academy 40
Calvary Christian 8
A lack of depth continued to haunt Calvary Christian, as the Cougars lost to Calhoun Academy.
“They whooped us everywhere,” Calvary head coach Kirby Newell said. “They are a good football team. They just took it to us. We were definitely out-manned tonight.”
Danny Joe Norman stole the show Friday night as he started Calhoun off on a 49-yard run for a touchdown to put Calhoun up 8-0. Before the end of the first quarter, Norman broke touchdown runs from 60 and 32 yards out, as Calhoun led 24-0 heading into the second quarter.
Kyle Carter ran in a 41-yard touchdown in the second to put Calhoun up 30-0. Sam Moore added a 58-yard touchdown run in the third to make the score 37-0 heading into the fourth quarter.
Calvary got its lone score when quarterback Jeremy McFadden found receiver Josh Carraway for an 88-yard touchdown.
Next up for Calvary is a home date against Russell Christian Academy.

The Tigers were limited to 6 yards rushing — 0 in the second half — on 31 carries, and fell on the road Friday, according to pinebeltsports.com.
Javaris Deloach did score two touchdowns while rushing for 37 yards to lead the way for the 1-4 Tigers. Andrew Black completed 10 of 21 passes for 143 yards with Damion Willis on the receiving end for 135 of those.

Bulldogs win again, beat S. Carolina in SEC Tournament
Demarcus Henderson and Wes Rea both had RBI singles in the ninth inning to lift Mississippi State to a 5-3 win over South Carolina Wednesday night in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
The Bulldogs (42-16) loaded the bases with one out before Henderson and Rea drove in runs on consecutive at-bats for the second time in the game.
Mississippi State had beaten Missouri 2-1 in 17 innings Tuesday night, matching the longest game in SEC tournament history.
Reliever Myles Gentry (4-0) limited the Gamecocks (39-17) to a one-out single in the bottom of the ninth.
Gentry pitched 5-2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight.
Rea was 3 for 4 while Henderson drove in three runs.
Mississippi State led 3-0 before South Carolina tied it up in the fourth.
Max Schrock drew a bases loaded walk and Brison Celek followed with a two-run single. -

Morgan takes runner-up at Nationals
Meridian Community College golfer, TJ Morgan, from Bruce, MS, tied for the
individual medalist at the NJCAA D1 National Championship held in Lubbock, TX, but lost on the first hole of a playoff. TJ shot 7 under for the tournament with a 76 on the first day followed by 68, 67 and a last round 70. Aksel Olsen from Wallace State Community College won the playoff.
