The Meridian Star
The LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah stated Moses in Genesis 13:10. Through the ages man has always wanted to know how did God destroy these two cities.
In fact, we cannot find the geographic location of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible says, “Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven” as stated in Genesis 19:24. While studying to become an architectural engineer at the university, dorm discussion often arose to consider fire from heaven, where we came from and other inquisitive questions by students from all parts of the world.
The discussions were no different during post graduate study at Central Bible College and Seminary. Usually we achieved better scientific answers to evolution and logical conclusions were determined on subjects like fire from heaven.
The Meridian Star recorded 2/16/13, page A5 in SKYFALL the same type event that is recorded in the Bible. The Star stated, “Meteors typically cause sizable sonic booms when they enter the atmosphere because they are traveling so much faster than the speed of sound.” (NASA estimates speed at 40,000 MPH and estimates a weight 10,000 tons).
Russian media giant, “PRAVDA” printed, “Explosions occurred in the sky, and according to witnesses, burning debris started falling on the ground.” NASA states that the “Russian Meteor (is) unrelated to Asteroid Flyby.”
What are we saying? The best terminology is used by the Associated Press in the Meridian Star and is quoted as follows. The “blinding flash and a booming shock wave … from the meteor exploded with the force of twenty atomic bombs…startled residents of the city of Chelyabinsk” who saw “the fireball it produced was dramatic.” The article goes on to say, “its’ streaming contrails as it arced toward the horizon just after sunrise, looking like a world ending science-fiction movie.”
The Genesis terminology could have been expressed by the media to quote a description of how it rained upon Chelyabinsk by pictorializing “brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven.” Obviously, the intensity was different. GOD! DID IT AGAIN!
